The present invention provides a system of head and spine protection conceptually different from, and superior to, the traditional free-floating helmet concept, for use in high impact physical activities, such as such as football, hockey, lacrosse, motorcycling, downhill skiing, bobsledding/luge, cycling, snowmobiling, race car driving, factory/construction activities, firefighting, skydiving, and training/battlefield activities by the military and law enforcement officers. The head dome and connection system provides a clear or tinted, impact-proof, projectile-proof bubble over the head and neck, which is secured firmly to the wearer's shoulders and torso via a connection system of straps to a harness, or to the waistline/upper thighs. The head is protected from impact against the inside of the dome by a cushioned cap, secured in place with a chin strap. The head dome can contain, in various embodiments, climate controlling features, solution-treated surfaces to prevent visual obfuscation from fog/ice/water beads, heat resistant construction for firefighting applications, radio/digital communication options, and a self-contained breathing apparatus. The head dome and connection system thus keeps the entire face, head, neck and cervical/upper thoracic portion of the spine free from the injurious impacts from exterior forces, objects and projectiles, while preserving the wearer's freedom of head movement, unobstructed vision, enhanced communication options, and comfort. Inside the head dome, the wearer's head and neck movement and interaction with his or her surroundings are virtually as unimpeded as if there were no head protection whatsoever.

Head dome and strap connection system

A roof venting apparatus is mounted to a firefighting vehicle's aerial extension ladder, where a semi-cylindrical, double-pointed lance is dropped and raised onto and through the roof of a burning structure as many times as necessary to properly vent the burning building. The lance is dropped and raised by a free-spooling, electric braking winch, which is mounted to an anchor board securely hooked onto the bottom rungs of a fire truck's aerial extension ladder, and which is operated by a fire fighter on the ground who mans a toggle control panel welded onto the lower anchor board. The winch cable extends up the length of the extended aerial ladder, through a series of stabilizing, free-wheeling idler wheels mounted to another removable anchor board screwed onto the top rungs of the truck's extension ladder. The lance, if hollow, is transported to the scene of the fire empty, where it can be filled with water with the fire hose, to establish the necessary dropping weight. After its use, it is emptied through the drain hole at the base of the lance when the fire has been controlled and the lance is ready to be transported back to the station.

Firefighters' remote roof venting apparatus

The present invention pertains to novel durable, tough, transparent, luminescent overlay compositions, useful for highlighting and/or illuminating and preserving surfaces and markings thereupon, such as roadways/highways, pedestrian passageways, airport runways, traffic control surface markings on travelways such as those listed above, traffic control devices/signs, structures, and articles. The clear compositions contain a moisture sensitive luminescent substance (for example, a phosphorescent substance having increased brightness and longer lasting afterglow) and an epoxy resin which imparts moisture stability to the luminescent substance, and durability and longer life to the underlying markings, surface area, structure or article. The clear transparent compositions can be applied as an overlay to existing surface area markings, or to unmarked surface areas themselves, or to structures or articles without obscuring the original appearance or color of the marking/surface/structure/article, to cover and/or protect the marking/surface/structure/article for an extended period of time, while providing indoor and outdoor luminescence on the marking/surface/structure/article in dark conditions for increased safety. The overlay compositions provide these benefits in an environmentally friendly manner because the compositions do not contaminate the surrounding environment with any organic hydrocarbon products via vaporization or runoffs, and in addition, may decrease the necessity to illuminate surface markings by energy-consuming overhead electrical fixtures.

In a preferred embodiment, a system for collecting and segregating particulate food debris from the whole pieces in a packaged food product, and a system to facilitate and ease the opening of the sealed plastic/cellophane/other packaging material within an outer cardboard food box, including: an inner bag; a system of small filter holes perforating the bottom of the inner bag; an outer bag adhered thereon; a system where the composite inner and outer bags are adhered to the inside and toward the top of the cardboard box, in order to maintain a food debris collection pocket at the base of the two-bag system; two gripping devices, of a style/type to include but not limited to, a pull-ring or pull-tab; and a system for affixing the gripping devices directly opposite one another on the outside and at the top of the sealed composite double-bag packaging material, to facilitate breaking the plastic packaging system's hermetic seal.

The luminescent substance-resin mixtures may be mixed with water-based highway paints. As a result, these novel compositions impart an extended road surface life, and are environmentally friendly because they do not contaminate the surrounding environment with organic hydrocarbon products via vaporization or runoffs. In addition these compositions may be used both indoors and outdoors for nighttime marking and in other marking applications.

The present invention relates to novel compositions useful, for example, in water-based paints. The compositions contain a moisture sensitive luminescent substance (for example a phosphorescent substance having increased brightness and longer lasting afterglow) and a polyurethane resin which is water miscible or soluble, and which imparts moisture stability to the luminescent substance. As a result, this novel composition when used in, for example, water-based highway paints imparts an extended road surface life, and is environmentally friendly because it does not contaminate the surrounding environment with organic hydrocarbon products via vaporization or runoffs. In addition this paint composition may be used both indoors and outdoors for nighttime marking.

This dental implant device comprises (a) a root structure made of a suitable dental prosthesis material, (b) a resilient boot member surrounding and in contact with the lower portion of the root structure, (c) a biocompatible substantially non-porous sheath member to which bony tissue will readily adhere, enclosing both the resilient boot member and lower portion of the root structure, and (d) a porous sleeve that prevents the penetration of pathogens into the vital implant interface with the bone. More preferably, the device includes a resilient membrane sleeve around an upper portion of the root structure and a seal between the upper and lower portions of the root structure and the sheath member to preclude tissue adherence to the boot member and prevent gingival tissue adherence to the sheath member.

A water based luminescent highway or roadway paint composition that contains a fine powdered luminescent substance which does not require an organic solvent, a colored paint dispersion, and a polyurethane resin which is water compatible and which imparts an extended surface life under normal traffic conditions. The luminescent substance may be either a phosphorescent material or a combination of a phosphorescent and a fluorescent material. When the fluorescent material is present in the luminescent substance a daytime luminescence or reflectivity or coloration is produced in addition to the phosphorescence produced at night when light (head lights of an automobile) shine on the paint composition marking the median highway stripe or the highway edges.
