A device for connecting a reservoir to a fluid pathway in a medicament delivery apparatus includes a main body having a service area housing a needle in fluid communication with the fluid pathway. A reservoir is filled with a medicament to be delivered in the fluid pathway through the needle after the latter has pierced an end surface of the reservoir. A plunger is movable within the reservoir along an axial direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the reservoir, and a piston is movable along said axial direction. A trigger mechanism is configured to drive the device to move from an initial operative configuration at which the axial movement of the piston causes an axial movement of the reservoir with respect to the main body to a final operative configuration at which the axial movement of the piston causes an axial movement of the plunger within the reservoir.

Device and system for delivering a medical fluid and relative delivery method

An infusion system for infusing a medication in a patient, comprising a medication dose dispensing device and a control device for controlling the dispensing device. The infusion system can be configured in a non-operating configuration, in which the dispensing device and the control device are spaced apart from each other, and in an operating configuration, in which the dispensing device and the control device are temporarily proximity-coupled. The actuating rotor of the control device and the actuated rotor of the dispensing device have a common rotation axes, and the system can compensate or block the rotation of the control device with respect to the dispensing device.

System and methods for medicament infusion

The present invention refers to a medical device for trans-dermal infusion of a medicament comprising a reservoir for holding a medicament to be infused, a pump for pumping medicament from the reservoir, wherein the device is assembled or adapted to be assembled in at least one pre-operational arrangement with or without the reservoir and is adapted to be rearranged from the at least one pre-operational arrangement into an operational arrangement comprising the reservoir. In particular, in the pre-operational arrangement without reservoir the pump is in a mechanically distressed condition preventing functional operation of the pump, and in the pre-operational arrangement comprising the reservoir the pump is in a mechanically distressed condition preventing functional operation of the pump and/or the reservoir is fluidically disconnected from the pump. In the operational arrangement the pump is in a mechanically stressed condition enabling functional operation of the pump and the reservoir is fluidically connected to the pump.

Medicament infusion device

Medical fluid-flow regulating devices are provided. Such medical fluid-flow regulating devices typically include a rotor and a flow-regulator element engaged or engageable with each other via a coupling that below a torque and/or fluidic-pressure threshold value allows the flow-regulator element to move upon rotation of the rotor and thereby regulate fluid flow. The medical fluid-flow regulating devices also include a blocking unit that above the torque and/or fluidic-pressure threshold value irreversibly blocks the rotor or the flow-regulator element or the coupling between the rotor and the flow-regulator element resulting in irreversible inactivation of the medical fluid-flow regulating device. Systems incorporating such medical fluid-flow regulating devices are also provided. Methods for detecting inactivation of such devices are also provided.

Medical fluid-flow regulating devices with blocking unit

A system for withdrawing blood from a body part that avoids formation of a drop of blood on the skin surface of the body part after blood removal. The system includes a collecting unit to withdraw blood, a lancing member configured for insertion into the body part and having a capillary to collect blood, and a pressure piece configured to apply pressure to the body part and having an actuator operably connected thereto. The pressure piece is movable relative to a support configured to exert pressure on the body part, and the actuator is configured to reduce the compressive force of the pressure piece after removing an amount of blood, whereby forming a drop of blood on the skin surface of the body part can be avoided.

A rotor for medical flow-regulating devices is described. The rotor comprises a central body and a margin extending from the central body. The margin comprises at least one actionable section that is movable from a rest position to a stretched position with respect to the central body upon application of a force and is configured to resiliently return to the rest position upon removal of the force. The present invention refers to a system for medical treatment comprising a medical device and a separate hand-held device. The medical device comprises an energy-receiving unit and the separate hand-held device comprises a housing and an energy-transfer unit to transfer energy to be used at least in part for performing medical treatment to the energy-receiving unit of the medical device when the energy-receiving unit and the energy-receiving unit are in an energy-transfer position. The system further comprises at least one position sensor adapted to detect at least when the energy-transfer unit and the energy-receiving unit are in the energy-transfer position. The system further comprises a controller for controlling the energy-transfer unit such that the transfer of energy needed for medical treatment from the energy-transfer unit to the energy-receiving unit is enabled only when the energy-transfer unit and the energy-receiving unit are in the energy-transfer position.

System for medical treatment

A medical device and a system for medical treatment comprising the medical device are disclosed. The medical device comprises a fluidic conduit and/or is configured to be operatively coupled to a fluidic conduit. The medical device comprises a flow regulator for regulating the flow of a fluid in the fluidic conduit and at least two movable elements, which are passively displaceable as a function of a fluidic pressure change in the fluidic conduit or actively displaceable for regulating the flow of fluid in the fluidic conduit. The medical device further comprises at least one transponder circuit comprising at least one transponder element chosen from a capacitor, an inductor, a resistor, or combinations thereof, being arranged with respect to the movable elements such that the transponder circuit has a capacitance or inductance or resistance or resonant frequency or Q factor, which changes as a function of the displacement of the movable elements. The system further comprises a control device comprising a transceiver, wherein the transceiver is configured to transmit energy to the transponder circuit and to read out the capacitance and/or the inductance and/or the resistance and/or the resonant frequency and/or the Q factor of the transponder circuit, such as to determine with the same transponder circuit whether there is a displacement of any of the movable elements. A foil comprising at least one transponder circuit to be arranged in the medical device is also disclosed.

A microfluidic system having a microchannel for the capillary transport of a liquid, in particular a body fluid for analytical purposes. The microchannel is provided with a surface coating comprising at least one hydrophilic substance selected from the group consisting of polyacrylic acid, polyacrylate, dextran sulfate and chondroitin sulfate. The invention also concerns a coating method that is suitable for this.

Microfluidic system and coating method therefor

The present invention provides a method and a device for piercing a body part and determining whether a sufficient volume of blood has been withdrawn. A lancing element is rapidly inserted into a body part in a forward phase and retracted quickly to a lesser puncturing depth. Subsequently, the lancing element is retracted slower than during the first retraction movement and the distance retracted during the second retraction is shorter than the first retraction movement. During the second retraction movement, body fluid is collected in a collection phase by a capillary structure of the lancing element. Contact between the lancing element and the body fluid is detected after the forward phase at the beginning and the end of a waiting period.

Lancing system comprising a needle and a lancing device The lancing device comprises a housing with a housing opening that is surrounded by a housing skin contact surface. A lancing depth reference element with a reference skin contact surface is adapted in such a manner that the reference skin contact surface at a reversal point of the lancing movement is in contact with the skin. The lancing depth is determined by the distance between the reference skin contact surface and the tip of the needle element at the reversal point of the lancing movement. The lancing depth reference element is in a stationary defined position relative to the reversal point of the lancing movement. The lancing depth reference element is adapted to stabilize the skin when pressed against the reference skin contact surface with respect to a skin deformation which occurs upon lancing of the skin.
