A three-dimensional (3D) integrated circuit (IC) includes a first die. The first die includes a 3D stacked capacitor on a first surface of the first die and coupled to a power distribution network (PDN) of the first die. The 3D IC also includes a second die stacked on the first surface of the first die, proximate the 3D stacked capacitor on the first surface of the first die. The 3D IC further includes active circuitry coupled to the 3D stacked capacitor through the PDN of the first die.

A data communication apparatus has a bus interface that couples the data communication apparatus to a serial bus and a controller configured to determine that a datagram received from the serial bus is addressed to a register address corresponding to a coexistence management identifier, activate a line driver of the bus interface circuit that is coupled to a data line of the serial bus during a portion of a first payload of the datagram when one or more coexistence management messages are ready for sending from the slave device, where the portion of the first payload of the datagram is allocated for use of the apparatus, and transmit a first coexistence management message in the portion of the first payload of the datagram that is allocated for use of the data communication apparatus.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for providing a reconfigurable multi-chip WWAN processing platform on a communications device. The processing platform allows the device to access multiple WWANs and multiple WWAN technologies concurrently. A first multiplexer is communicatively coupled with a number of baseband processing chips. A first baseband processing chip is selectively coupled with a first transceiver and a first UICC module to establish a first connection. A second baseband processing chip is selectively coupled with a second transceiver and a second UICC module to establish a second connection operable concurrently with the first connection. A multiplexer controller performs a configurable search for available networks. One or more networks are selected. The controller selects a specific transceiver for each selected network based on the capabilities of the transceiver. Baseband processing chips that consume less power serve as proxies for other baseband processing chips that consume more power.

The quality of a broadcast stream is varied responsive to changes in the utilization of forward link air interface resources. The network monitors utilization of forward link air interface resources and dynamically changes the forward link air interface resources dedicated to the broadcast stream responsive to changes in the utilization of forward link air interface resources. The quality of the broadcast stream is scaled to the allocated forward link resources. The broadcast stream may include a layered content and scaling can be achieved by varying the number of layers transmitted over the air interface. The network may notify mobile stations in advance when changes in the quality of the broadcast will take place. When the broadcast stream originates with a mobile station, the forward link air interface resources may be limited by the quality of the broadcast stream transmitted over a reverse link channel from the originating mobile station.

Scalable quality broadcast service in a mobile wireless communication network

A method of coordinating broadcast parameter settings enables autonomous soft handoff by a mobile station. Any base station can initiate a broadcast parameter coordination process. The initiating base station assumes the role of an arbitrator and is responsible for determining the broadcast parameters. The broadcast parameter coordination process does not require any intervention or involvement by the PDSN or any signaling with the mobile station, except to inform the mobile station of the soft handoff sectors after the broadcast parameter coordination process is completed. The list of soft handoff sectors may be sent to the mobile station in a common overhead message.

Method of synchronizing broadcast parameters to support autonomous soft handoff by mobile stations

An admissions control technique improves processing capacity utilization in a token-based admission control scheme by matching token allocation to actual processing requirements. In an exemplary application, the processing capacity of a processing entity is discretely represented by a plurality of tokens. Work is admitted to the processing entity through a plurality of processing event entry points. Each of these entry points is initially allocated a share of the tokens. During each one of a succession of admission cycles, events are admitted at each entry point until that entry point's share of the tokens is exhausted. At the end of each cycle, tokens are re-allocated to the entry points for use during the next admission cycle based on the actual usage of tokens during the current cycle. An entry point's token allocation may be increased for the next cycle by re-allocating leftover tokens from other, less busy entry points.

A radio access network comprises a base station controller and a plurality of radio base stations. The radio base stations connect to the base station controller in a daisy chain configuration via a shared communication link. At least one radio base station in the chain includes a priority queue for scheduling packets to be transmitted via the shared communication link to an adjacent radio base station. The priority queue schedules packets for transmission over the shared communication link based on the location of the terminating radio base station for each packet so that packets traversing more hops are given priority over packets traversing fewer hops.
