An apparatus for providing information services to a user in a vehicle includes an automotive concierge, a prompter, and an interaction mode. The automotive concierge is hosted by an infotainment system in the vehicle and engages in an interaction with the user based on context. The prompter generates a prompt for a model in response to an instruction from the automotive concierge, the instruction being based on the context information and the prompt being selected to cause the model to generate content that invites a choice from the user. The interaction mode delivers the content to the user and provides information from the user to the automotive concierge.

Proactive multi-modal automotive concierge

A method includes: a wireless communication device (WCD) receiving information indicating that a second user device that is close-by is actively running a messaging application, which establishes an active communication channel with a communication service that is responsible for routing incoming voice and data communication to the WCD. The method also includes: establishing a short range communication between the communication device and the second user device; in response to receiving the information and establishing the short range communication, placing at least a first modem of the WCD in a sleep state; and in response to at least one subsequent trigger event, awakening the first modem to an active state to enable use of the first modem to complete communication. The messaging service is configured to redirect incoming calls to the second user device while the messaging service is active and the devices are within short-range communication of each other.

Reducing power consumption by a wireless communication device with multiple wireless communication modems

A writing instrument (e.g., a pen or stylus) is able to wirelessly receive a message, receive a responsive input from a user (either spoken or written using the writing instrument), convert the user input into text, and transmit the text in a first mode (if the responsive input is spoken) or in a second mode (if the responsive input is written). The first mode and the second modes may correspond, for example, to different recipient groups.

Method on a writing instrument having wireless communication capability

This disclosure is generally directed to a method on a gesture-based messaging device ('messaging device'). According to various implementations, the messaging device detects a user's gesture (e.g., arm gesture, hand gesture, or finger gesture) using, for example, Electromyography or EMG. The messaging device may be implemented as a wearable device, such as a ring, wristband (e.g., a wristwatch), or pair of glasses (e.g., Google Glass&#x2122;). The messaging device attempts to authenticate the user. If the messaging device authenticates the user and recognizes the gesture as indicating that a social media message is to be dictated, then the messaging device enters a social media mode, during which it listens for and receives an input of a spoken message from the user, converts the spoken message to a text message, and transmits the text message to a social media entity (e.g., Twitter&#xae;, Facebook&#xae;, or Tumblr&#xae;).

Gesture-based messaging method, system, and device

A method that reduces power consumption in a wireless communication device having a first and a second modem. The method includes detecting access to a communication network via the second modem, and in response to that detection: establishing a communication channel between the second modem and a communication service over a communication network; and triggering the first modem to enter a sleep state. The communication service is configured to respond to receipt at the communication service of an incoming communication to be routed to the first modem via a first communication network by: (i) automatically transmitting a notification via the communication channel to the second modem and (ii) forwarding the incoming communication via the first communication network to the first modem. The method then includes, in response to receipt of the notification at the device: awakening the first modem to an active state to enable receipt of the incoming communication.
