Provided is an OFDM reception apparatus that can reduce, even in an environment where the influence of noises is strong, this influence of the noises, thereby improving the precision of detecting a carrier frequency error. In this apparatus, a filtering unit () receives received signals each including a short preamble (STF) in which a plurality of pilot subcarriers are intermittently arranged in the frequency domain and repeatedly arranged in the time domain, and the filtering unit () attenuates the frequency components between respective two adjacent ones of the plurality of pilot subcarriers in the frequency domain. A correction unit () corrects a carrier frequency error of the received signal on the basis of the signals of the plurality of pilot subcarriers having passed through the filtering unit ().

Reception apparatus and frequency error correction method

A preamble generating unit generates first and second synchronization preambles having different numbers of subcarriers. A transmission signal generating unit generates an OFDM transmission signal through time-division multiplexing by using the generated first and second synchronization preambles. A transmission RF unit converts the generated OFDM transmission signal into a radio-frequency OFDM signal and transmits the radio-frequency OFDM signal. The preamble generating unit adds a predetermined dummy period between the first synchronization preamble and the second synchronization preamble.

Transmitter, receiver, transmission method, and reception method

An OFDM receiver apparatus () receives a signal that includes an STF having a plurality of pilot subcarriers and a plurality of null subcarriers that are alternately arranged at predetermined frequency intervals in a transmission band and that includes a data part that is time-multiplexed with the STF. A null carrier extraction unit () extracts a plurality of null subcarrier frequency signals from the received signal. A power calculation unit () detects, based on the levels of the extracted signals, the interference levels of the plurality of subcarriers in the transmission band. A soft decision unit () uses the reliability of the plurality of subcarriers, which is calculated based on the detected interference levels, to perform a soft decision of a demodulated signal of the received data part. An error correction unit () performs, based on the result of the soft decision, an error correction, thereby reconstructing the data.

An interfering wave is detected using, in a received signal including a preamble and a control signal field, a plurality of symbols including a symbol configuring the preamble and a symbol configuring the control signal field. The received signal has one of a plurality of transmission formats that use at least either a first frequency band or a second frequency band. In a signal quality detector, a symbol differential calculator calculates, in each of the first frequency band and the second frequency band, differences between a certain number of symbols adjacent to one another at predetermined positions in a time domain among the plurality of symbols. A square operator performs square operations on results of the calculation of differences. An interference determiner determines, using results of the square operations, whether each of the first frequency band and the second frequency band includes an interfering wave.

A tuner receives a received signal using one of a plurality of transmission formats that use at least one of either a first frequency or a second frequency band. A determination unit determines the transmission format being used in the received signal from among the plurality of transmission formats. In the determination unit, a pattern matching unit stores in advance a plurality of patterns respectively expressing a received waveform of a preamble in each of the plurality of transmission formats, conducts a pattern matching process between the received signal and the each of the plurality of patterns, and obtains a correlation value. If the control unit determines that the interfering signal other than the adjacent channel interfering signal is received, the control unit generates the gain control signal so that the range of the peak value is a first range; otherwise, the control unit generates the gain control signal so that the range of the peak value is a second range. The upper and lower bounds of the second range are lower than the upper and lower bounds of the first range, respectively.

In a receiver circuit, an analog signal processor frequency-converts an input high frequency signal into a baseband signal, and performs low pass filtering at a cutoff frequency below a desired-wave band. An ADC converts an output of the analog signal processor into a digital signal. A digital signal processor compensates an output of the ADC for a signal component in the desired-wave band which has been attenuated by the filtering operation of the analog signal processor.

A digital broadcast transmission device generates channel combination information associating a plurality of physical channels. The digital broadcast transmission device divides a bit stream into a plurality of bit streams, the bit stream including program-related information having added thereto channel combination information, and transmits the divided bit streams on the plurality of physical channels, respectively. A digital broadcast reception device selects the plurality of physical channels using a plurality of front ends based on the channel combination information, and demodulates broadcast waves received on the plurality of physical channels, respectively. The digital broadcast reception device combines bit streams obtained from the demodulation, and outputs the combined bit stream. The digital broadcast reception device also simultaneously transmits a light bit stream on a different single physical channel, the light bit stream being a bit stream smaller in amount of information than the combined bit stream.

A reception device for receiving an OFDM signal whose level is maintained constant by performing an AGC control which adjusts an amplification gain by means of a discrete gain value includes an equalization section operable to execute an equalization process of detecting, respectively, distortions of a plurality of reference subcarriers regularly included in the OFDM signal on which the fast Fourier transform has been performed, and of estimating, by means of an interpolation using the detected distortions, a distortion of the OFDM signal, which distortion is caused by transmission path propagation so as to correct the estimated distortion of the OFDM signal, and the equalization section corrects, by using the AGC control signal, an estimated error of the distortion of the OFDM signal, which distortion is caused by a discrete amplification gain variation of the OFDM signal.

An OFDM reception device detects a time at which impulse noise occurs in a received OFDM signal, and specifies a start position candidate period that does not have intersymbol interference and is estimated to have a guard interval signal in a symbol. When setting a FFT window of an effective symbol length in a symbol duration of each symbol, if the impulse noise occurrence time is included in the symbol, the OFDM reception device determines a start position of the FFT window within a range of the start position candidate period so as to exclude the impulse noise occurrence time as much as possible.

A receiving device performs reception in a service period of a broadcast signal and switches to a power saving mode in a non-service period. The service period is composed of a first period during which an application data table of an MPE-FEC frame is transmitted and a second period, following the first period, during which an RS data table of the MPE-FEC frame is transmitted. An error correction unitperforms one of error correction that uses the whole RS data table according to MPE-FEC, and erasure correction that uses a same number of parity bytes as bytes having bit errors. When the bit errors are corrected by the error correction unitperforming erasure correction, a power control unitswitches a receiving circuit to a power saving mode before the second period ends.

The present invention aims to provide a reception apparatus that receives and demodulates a signal transmitted by using time-division multiplexing, with reduced power consumption. In detail, a receiving unit including a tuner operates to receive a signal only during a time period for which a desired signal is transmitted. The received signal is converted into digital data, and the digital data is stored into a memory. With the use of the digital data stored in the memory, a PLL performs all of the necessary operations from synchronization establishment to demodulation.
