A binaural hearing system for assisting a hearing of a user includes two hearing instruments each to be worn in or on an ear of the user. An audio signal is modified in each of the two hearing instruments by way of a programmable signal processor of the respective hearing instrument by executing a plurality of software modules of firmware of the hearing system and is output by an output transducer of the respective hearing instrument. The executed software modules of the firmware are distributed asymmetrically on the two hearing instruments, so that at least one of the software modules of the firmware is selectively executed in one of the two hearing instruments.

A receiver apparatus for determining a correlation value of a predetermined repetitive chip sequence in a receive signal, the chip sequence having a chip sequence duration and a chip sequence duration cycle. The receiver apparatus has a receive unit for receiving the receive signal and a segmenter for providing receive signal segments from the receive signal, two receive signals representing the same chip sequence in different repetition cycles and having at least one repetition cycle time spacing.

Method and receiver apparatus for determining a correlation value considering frequency correction

An apparatus for estimating a frequency shift and a time shift in a CDMA signal based on a CDMA code associated with a CDMA signal, having a modulation removal stage for removing a data modulation from the CDMA signal to obtain a modified CDMA signal. The apparatus further has a frequency domain transformer for transforming the modified CDMA signal to the frequency domain to obtain a modified CDMA spectrum and a frequency shift detector for detecting a group of candidate frequency shifts based on the modified CDMA spectrum. The apparatus further has a processing stage for processing the CDMA signal and a candidate frequency shift to obtain the time shift, when a combination of the CDMA signal, the CDMA code and the candidate frequency shift fulfills an optimization criterion and for selecting the candidate frequency shift as the frequency shift.
