Embodiments described herein relate to an implantable device that include an inductor coil, a storage capacitor, active circuitry, and a sensor, but doesn't include an electrochemical cell, and methods for use therewith. During first periods of time, the storage capacitor accumulates and stores energy received via the inductor coil from a non-implanted device. During second periods of time, interleaved with the first periods of time, and during which energy is not received from the non-implanted device, the active circuitry of the implantable device is powered by the energy stored on the storage capacitor and is used to perform at least one of a plurality of predetermined operations of the implantable device, including, e.g., obtaining a sensor measurement from the sensor of the implantable device, transmitting a communication signal including a sensor measurement to the non-implanted device, and/or receiving a communication signal from the non-implanted device.

Method and apparatus for a burst operation pressure sensor

Methods and devices to mitigate time varying impairments in sensors are described. The application of such methods and devices to pressure sensors facing time varying parasitic capacitances due to water droplets is detailed. Parasitic insensitive sampling in sensors

An unobtrusive augmented reality (AR) system can be used to assist the wearer in every day interactions by projecting information from the contact lens display onto the retina of the wearer's eye. The unobtrusive augmented reality system includes a necklace and a contact lens display that are unobtrusive to the wearer and the wearer's surrounding environment. The necklace of the unobtrusive augmented reality system generates power and data for the contact lens displays. The necklace and contact lens display include conductive coils inductively coupled by a magnetic field. The inductive coupling allows data and power generated by the necklace to be transferred to the contact lens display. A projector in the contact lens display projects images generated from the data onto the retina of the wearers eye.

Unobtrusive eye mounted display

Certain embodiments of the present technology relate to temperature sensors for using in an implantable medical device, and methods for use therewith. Such a method can include alternating between producing a first base-to-emitter voltage drop (VBE1) and a second base-to-emitter voltage drop (VBE2), and alternating between using a capacitor to store the VBE1, which is complimentary to absolute temperature (CTAT), and using the same capacitor to store a &#x394;VBE=VBE2&#x2212;VBE1, which is proportion to absolute temperature (PTAT). The method also includes using a sigma-delta modulator that includes the capacitor to produce a signal having a duty cycle (dc) indicative of the &#x394;VBE stored using the capacitor, and producing a temperature measurement based on the signal having the duty cycle (dc) indicative of the &#x394;VBE.

Highly accurate temperature sensors, and calibrations thereof, for use with implantable medical devices

An augmented reality system including a source and a contact lens display can be used to project information from the contact lens display onto the retina of the wearer's eye. The source provides energy to the contact lens display and operates at a source frequency. The source includes a source circuit including a conductive coil. The contact lens display includes a resonant circuit including another conductive coil and a capacitive circuit. The resonant circuit receives energy from the conductive coil of the source via a magnetic field inductively coupling the conductive coils. The contact lens display additionally includes a feedback circuit to adjust the capacitance of the capacitive circuit to control a resonant frequency of the resonant circuit. The feedback circuit can control the capacitive circuit to maintain the resonant frequency of the resonant circuit near the source frequency as the wearer's eye blinks.

Adaptive tuning of a contact lens

An eye-mounted display includes a femtoprojector, which includes a backplane and a frontplane. The backplane receives data (e.g., data packets) that specify the image to be projected by the eye-mounted display. It converts this data to drive signals (e.g., current) to drive the frontplane. The frontplane contains an array of light emitters (e.g., LEDs) that produce light according to the drive signals, thus generating the desired image. In one approach, the image is deconstructed and transmitted to the backplane as needed as microframes which are displayed asynchronously and only for regions where the image has changed, rather than continuously scanning full picture frames at the full frame rate. In another aspect, the femtoprojector has variable pitch between adjacent light emitters.

Backplane for eye-mounted display

Disclosed are systems, devices, circuits, components, mechanisms, and processes in which a switching mechanism can be coupled between components. The switching mechanism is configured to have an on state or an off state, where the on state allows current to pass along a current path. A monitoring mechanism has one or more sensing inputs coupled to sense an electrical characteristic at the current path. The electrical characteristic can be a current, voltage, and/or power by way of example. The monitoring mechanism is configured to output a reporting signal indicating the sensed electrical characteristic. The monitoring mechanism can be integrated with the switching mechanism on a chip.

Integrated protection devices with monitoring of electrical characteristics

A circuit for biasing a transducer including a first plate and a second plate includes a front-end buffer and a charge pump. The front-end buffer generates an internal signal at an internal node in response to a voltage signal of the second plate. The transducer receives the incident sound wave at the first plate to generate the voltage signal at the second plate. The charge pump boosts the internal signal into a boost voltage at the first plate according to a first clock signal.

Microphone circuits for canceling out the leakage characteristics of a transducer

A digital microphone is provided. The digital microphone includes an acoustic sensor, a bias generator, first and second attenuators, a buffer, an amplifier, an ADC, and a controller. The acoustic sensor transfers an acoustic signal to a voltage signal. The bias generator provides a bias voltage to the acoustic sensor. The first attenuator attenuates the voltage signal by a first attenuation value. The buffer buffers the voltage signal to generate a buffered voltage signal. The amplifier amplifies the buffered voltage signal to generate an amplified signal. The ADC converts the amplified signal to a data signal with a digital format. The second attenuator attenuates the data signal by a second attenuation value. The controller determines whether the amplified signal is larger than a reference value and adjusts the bias voltage and the first and second attenuation values of the first and second attenuators according to the result determined by the controller.

Digital microphone and control method therefor

A charge pump includes a first unidirectional conducting device, a flying capacitor, a second unidirectional conducting device, an output capacitor, a first switch, and a second switch. The first unidirectional conducting device unidirectionally couples a supply voltage to an internal node. The flying capacitor is coupled between the internal node and a clock signal. The second unidirectional conducting device unidirectionally couples the internal node to an output node. The output capacitor is coupled between the output node and a ground. The first switch couples a discharge node to the ground according to a discharge signal. The second switch couples the output node to the discharge node according to the voltage of the internal node.
