Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for providing pose estimation in extended reality systems. An example method can include tracking, in a lower-power processing mode using a set of lower-power circuit elements on an integrated circuit, a position and orientation of a computing device during a lower-power processing period, the set of lower-power circuit elements including a static random-access memory (SRAM); suspending, based on a triggering event, the tracking in the lower-power processing mode; initiating a higher-power processing mode for tracking the position and orientation of the computing device during a higher-power processing period; and tracking, in the higher-power processing mode using a set of higher-power circuit elements on the integrated circuit and a dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), the position and orientation of the computing device during the higher-power processing period.

Pose estimation in extended reality systems

A method of compensating for a movement of a device worn by a user is described. The method comprises measuring, using a first sensor, a motion of a user wearing the device; measuring, using a second sensor, a motion of the device; determining a difference in the motion of the device with respect to the motion of the user; and compensating for the difference in the motion of the device with respect to the motion of the user. An electronic device for monitoring a device worn by a user is also disclosed.

Compensating for a movement of a sensor attached to a body of a user

A method for eye tracking in a head-mountable device (HMD) includes determining at least one object within a three-dimensional (3D) extended reality (XR) environment as an eye tracking calibration point and determining a 3D location of the eye tracking calibration point within the XR environment. The method also includes detecting a gaze point of a user of the HMD and comparing the detected gaze point to an area of the XR environment that includes the 3D location of the eye tracking calibration point. The method further includes, in response to determining that the user is looking at the eye tracking calibration point based on the detected gaze point being within the area, calibrating, using a processor, the HMD to correct a difference between the eye tracking calibration point and the detected gaze point. In addition, the method includes, in response to determining that the user is not looking at the eye tracking calibration point based on the detected gaze point being outside of the area, maintaining an existing calibration of the HMD.

System and method for natural three-dimensional calibration for robust eye tracking

A method of analyzing objects in images recorded by a camera of a head mounted device is disclosed. The method comprises performing eye tracking while recording the images; determining a region of interest of an image based upon the eye tracking; generating a bounding box based upon the region of interest; cropping an image based upon the bounding box to generate a cropped image; performing a fine cropping of the cropped image; and detecting an object in the cropped image. The method also includes identifying a first position of the first eye and a second position the second eye. Additionally, the method includes staggering the capture of the first eye and the second eye, wherein the first eye is captured prior to capturing the second eye. The method also includes identifying the first gaze direction with respect to a display. The method further includes mapping the second gaze direction of the second eye based on the identified first gaze direction, prior to capturing the second eye.
