An electronic device comprises a display module including a plurality of touch electrodes, a cover window covering a front surface of the display module, a housing including an electrically conductive housing plate disposed below a rear surface of the display module and a housing side wall surrounding at least a portion of a side surface of the display module or supporting the display module, and a driving circuit sensing variation in capacitance between one or more of the touch electrodes and the housing plate, caused by a change in distance between said one or more of the touch electrodes and the housing plate.

A method for driving a display device including a display panel including a first and a second display area each of which is divided into a plurality of display blocks and n touch blocks comprises a first and a second step. The first step drives the respective display blocks of the first display area sequentially, drives at least one touch block after driving the display blocks, and generates a first touch report after driving all of the n touch blocks. The second step drives the respective display blocks of the second display area sequentially, drives at least one touch block after driving the display blocks, and generates a second touch report after driving the n touch blocks again. The first and the second step are processed within one frame period, and the one frame period includes a vertical blanking interval void of input image data.

Display device having touch sensor and driving method thereof

Provided are a display device with integrated touch screen and a method of driving the same that reduce a touch error due to the switch of an image and thus enhance touch sensing performance. The display device includes a display panel, a driver IC, and a touch IC. The driver IC respectively supplies a plurality of data voltages, corresponding to frame-unit image data, to a plurality of pixels formed in the display panel, and calculates average luminance of a plurality of touch blocks. Each of the touch blocks includes a certain number of pixels. The touch IC supplies a touch driving signal to each of the touch blocks, compensates for a capacitive change in the pixels due to switch of an image, and senses a touch.

Display device with integrated touch screen and method of driving the same

A liquid crystal display device is disclosed, which comprises gate and data lines arranged to cross each other on a substrate to define a pixel region; a pixel electrode formed in the pixel region; a common electrode forming an electric field together with the pixel electrode and sensing a touch of a user; and a sensing line electrically connected with the common electrode, wherein the common electrode includes a plurality of first common electrodes for sensing any one of a touch position of X axis and a touch position of Y axis and a plurality of second common electrodes for sensing the other one of the touch positions of X axis and Y axis, and the sensing line is not electrically connected with the plurality of second common electrodes but electrically connected with the plurality of first common electrodes.

A liquid crystal display device is disclosed, which comprises first and second substrates; gate and data lines arranged to cross each other on the first substrate to define a pixel region; a pixel electrode formed in the pixel region; a common electrode forming an electric field together with the pixel electrode and sensing a touch of a user; a light shielding layer formed on the second substrate to shield light leakage to a region other than the pixel region; column spacers formed on the light shielding layer to maintain a cell gap; and a sensing line formed on the column spacers and electrically connected with the common electrode.
