An apparatus for fleshing fur pelts with two conical poles, on each of which the pelt is positioned with the fur side facing inwardly. A ring is disposed concentrically of one pole. The ring is clamped to the pelt and moved axially of the pole by a piston driven carriage, which mounts the ring, to tension the pelt. The pole is rotated to allow a rotary scraper to flesh the pelt.

Apparatus for pelt processing

The present invention relates to a device for the separation of a liquid from a sludge (12) or a liquid containing particles by means of a rotatable drum (1), inside which an inlet device for the supply of a sludge (12) or of a liquid containing particles debouches, the jacket (3) of said drum exhibiting ports (2) for making said separation of liquid possible, the drum (1) in its interior exhibiting a screw-type flange element (11) for the forward feed of the sludge, which flange (11) follows the rotating movement of the drum, said flange (11) extending from the inside of the jacket (3A) of the drum in direction towards the center (13) of the same. The invention makes possible an effective supply of sludge (12) etc. to the interior of the drum and an effective separation of liquid from said sludge (12). The inlet device (28) with a number of outlet openings (30, 31) extends unto and along said rotatable jacket (3) of the drum, and portion of the screw (11) for forward feed exhibits an increasing height of the flange blade (a, b, c etc.) along a substantial extension of the drum (1) as counted in the direction of forward feed, i.e. the distance occupied by the flange (11a, 11b, 11c etc.) in direction away from the jacket (3) of the drum towards the center of the drum (1) increases, whereby material accumulated between the flange sections can be received in an increasing quantity in the direction of the forward feed.

Device for the separation of a liquid

A piston ring assembly for a piston of the type which is rigidly connected to the associated piston rod and which during its reciprocating motion in a cylinder has to be inclinable with its longitudinal axis by a small angle relative to the center axis of said cylinder, said piston being intended for use in hydraulic mechanisms with very high hydraulic fluid pressures and mainly axial piston machines. The piston is provided with a peripheral groove for accomodating the sealing piston ring assembly and said assembly consists of two or more annular and radially slitted washers of steel. For providing such a piston ring assembly which has improved sealing action and endurance but which still is simple and unexpensive in manufacture, the slitted washers have a thickness so selected in percent of the cylinder diameter that their slit width or gap will be substantially equal to zero for an intermediate value of the inclination angle between the longitudinal axis of the piston and the center axis of the cylinder and in that the piston groove has a depth sufficient for allowing a free relative sliding motion between the washers.

A method of producing synthetic resins from waste products containing lignin derivatives and sugars, especially waste liquors from cellulose pulp manufacture, is disclosed. The synthetic resins thus produced are especially utilizable as binders in chipboard, plywood, mineral wool slabs and the like. The method comprises treating the waste product in a first step so as to convert a substantial portion of the sugars contained therein into furfural derivatives. In a second step said furfural derivatives are condensed with the lignin to form a synthetic resin.

Method of producing synthetic resin from waste products

A synthetic resin product which may be used for gluing wood products and the like comprises a lignin and a low molecular weight liquid which is capable of penetrating, swelling and reacting with the lignin to form a hardened product. The low molecular weight liquid may be a solution consisting essentially of formaldehyde and phenol and may also contain an acid or alkaline hardener. Examples of acid hardeners include ammonium chloride, paratoluene sulphonic acid and the like, whereas examples of an alkaline hardener include sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide and the like. The formed resin product is very suitable as an adhesive and utilizes lignin not ordinarily suitable as an adhesive and generally regarded as a waste material.
