For cleaning of crankcase gas produced by an internal combustion engine use is made of a centrifugal rotor, that is journalled in a frame through two axially separated bearings. The centrifugal rotor is caused to rotate by use of part of it also as a rotor of an electrical motor. The electrical motor has a stator, which is kept non-rotating and is charged with electric current for rotation of the centrifugal rotor, the centrifugal rotor being kept journalled during its rotation only in the two bearings.

Method of cleaning crankcase gas and a gas cleaning separator

In a centrifugal separator for separating solid particles from a liquid, a centrifugal rotor ( ) has two axially separated end walls ( ) and a surrounding wall ( ) arranged therebetween. The end walls ( ) and the surrounding wall ( ) surround a separation chamber ( ) in which there are arranged separation discs ( ) and one or more conveyor screws ( ) for axial transportation of separated solid particles. The invention relates to an apparatus for the separation of contaminants from a pressurized liquid. Specifically, the apparatus is a centrifugal rotor adapted to be reaction driven by the pressurized liquid arranged within a housing. The housing has an outlet that is oriented in a direction substantially opposite the direction of rotation of the rotor to make it easier for the liquid to leave the housing.
