The invention relates to a method of making a structured fibrous web (W). The method comprises forming a fibrous web (W) and conveying the formed fibrous web on a water receiving felt () to a dewatering nip (PN) formed by a first press unit () and a second press unit () and where an endless belt () is passed through the nip together with the fibrous web(W) and the water receiving felt (), The endless belt has a side which is covered by a polymer and which contacts the fibrous web (W) in the dewatering nip (PN). After the dewatering nip, the web (W) is transferred with a speed difference to an endless structured clothing () which is permeable to air and has protruding knuckles () on the side that contacts the fibrous web (W) and which protruding knuckles () give the structured clothing () a topographic surfacearea which, for a given length of the structured clothing () in the machine direction and a given width of the structured clothing in the cross machine direction, exceeds the plain surface area of a part of the endless belt () having an equal length and width. The structured clothing is operated at a speed which is so much lower than the speed of the endless belt () that the relative difference in speed between the endless belt () and the structured () fabriccorresponds to the relative difference in surface area between the endless belt () and the structured clothing. In this way, the fibers of the fibrous web (W) will be evenly distributed on the structured clothing (). The invention also relates to a creped fibrous web (W) having a basis weight in the range of 14 g/m-40 g/m, and having a three-dimensional structure formed by depressed regions () and elevated regions (). The fibers of the fibrous web (W) are 20 evenly distributed over the surface of the creped fibrous web (W).

Method of making a structured fibrous web and a creped fibrous web

The invention relates to a reel-up () for receiving and winding into a roll () a paper web (W) that arrives from a drying cylinder () in a paper making machine (). The reel-up () comprises a rotatably mounted reel spool () onto which a paper web (W) can be wound to create a paper roll () of increasing diameter and an endless flexible belt () mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel such that the flexible belt () forms a loop. The flexible belt () is positioned adjacent to the reel spool () to engage the paper web (W) against the reel spool () during winding such that the flexible belt () is deflected from the predetermined path of travel. According to the invention, the endless flexible belt () comprises electrically conductive material such that static electricity in the flexible belt () is dissipated away from the flexible belt (). The invention also relates to a paper making machine in which the inventive reel-up is used and to a method of winding a paper web.

Reel-up for winding a paper web into a roll and a method of winding a paper web to form a roll

The invention relates to a process and a machine for making a tissue paper web (W) in which the tissue paper web W is passed through an extended nip N formed between an extended nip unit () and a Yankee drying cylinder () and in which the tissue paper web W is carried on a felt () through the extended nip N in such a way that, in the extended nip N, the tissue paper web W contacts the outer surface () of the Yankee drying cylinder (). The web W and the felt () are led over a suction roll () prior to the extended nip N in such a way that the felt () contacts the suction roll () and the tissue paper web W is separated from the suction roll () by the felt (). The suction roll () has a suction zone () over which the felt () and the tissue paper web W pass together, and a first hood () is arranged opposite the suction roll () and partially surrounds the suction roll (). The first hood () has an extension around the suction roll such the first hood () covers the entire suction zone (), and moist hot air is fed from the first hood () and sucked through the tissue paper web and the felt () by the suction roll (). The tissue paper web W is directly exposed to the first hood () such that the moist hot air reaches the tissue paper web W without passing through a fabric before reaching the tissue paper web W. The Yankee drying cylinder () is covered by a second hood () which is a Yankee hood which has an air heating and distribution system () and hot exhaust air from the second hood () is fed through a conduit () to the first hood () and used to supply the first hood () with moist hot air. The moist hot air has a temperature in the range of 130&#xb0; C.-300&#xb0; C. and a moisture content of 300 g/kg dry air-1000 g/kg dry air at a rate of 90-130 m/minute per square meter suction zone area. The moist air is then sucked through the tissue paper web W by the suction roll () such that moisture condensates on the tissue paper web W and thereby raises the temperature of the tissue paper web W before the tissue paper web W passes through the extended nip N.

Process and a machine for making a tissue paper web

The invention relates to a method of producing a structured fibrous web of paper. The method comprises forming a fibrous web and conveying the formed fibrous web on a water receiving felt () to a dewatering nip. An endless belt () with a polyurethane surface is passed through the nip together with the fibrous web and the water receiving felt (). After the dewatering nip, the fibrous web is conveyed by the endless belt () to an endless textured fabric () which is permeable to air and to which the web is transferred from the endless belt () in a transfer nip. The textured fabric () rans at a lower speed than the endless belt (). After the transfer to the textured fabric (), the fibrous web is carried by the textured fabric () to a drying cylinder (). The transfer nip is formed by two rolls of which one is a suction roll within the loop of the textured fabric. The transfer nip has a length which is 5 mm-40 mm. The endless polyurethane belt () has a width that exceeds the width of the textured fabric (). The invention also relates to a corresponding machine.

Method and a machine for producing a structured fibrous web of paper

A tissue papermaking machine is described, comprising a wet section and a press section comprising a single press with first and second press elements forming a press nip, and with a press felt running through the press nip in contact with the formed fiber web, whereby the second press element is arranged inside the loop of the press and felt, and a smooth belt runs through the press nip in contact with the formed fiber web, whereby the first press element is arranged inside the loop of the belt, and a transfer roll arranged inside the loop of the belt forming a transfer nip with a drying surface, whereby the smooth belt carries the fiber web between the press nip and the transfer nip. A pre-dewatering device is arranged upstream of the press to dewater the fiber web to a dry content of 15-30%. Associated methods are also provided.

Tissue papermaking machine and a method of manufacturing a tissue paper web

A clothing for structuring a wet fibre web (') in a press section of a tissue papermaking machine is described which has a three-dimensional woven structure forming elevations () and depressions (), said elevations, like the depressions, are repeated and distributed to form a pattern of polygonal, geometrically similar smallest unitary surfaces (), each of said unitary surfaces having an area a and covering a plurality of depressions with the mean depth d. According to the invention, the area a and the mean depth d of each unitary surface () are adapted in relation to each other in such a way that, calculated by the length unit mm, their ratio is equal to or greater than 30 mm, wherein a is selected within the range of 1.0-3.0 mmand d is selected within the range of 0.03-0.09 mm. The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a creped tissue paper web by using said structuring clothing.

A drying section for drying a web in a papermaking machine has a pre-drying section and a final drying section, wherein the pre-drying section includes a hot press formed by a first press member and a rotatable counter roll in engagement with each other so as to form a nip therebetween through which the web passes. The hot press further includes a heating device disposed in heat-transfer relation to the counter roll and operable to heat a surface region of the counter roll which then passes through the nip so as to heat the web therein, and an imprinting fabric arranged in an endless loop, the imprinting fabric defining an imprinting surface for imprinting the web and being arranged to pass through the nip of the hot press with the web against the imprinting surface such that the web is imprinted. The imprinting fabric continues to support the imprinted web downstream of the hot press at least up to the final drying section.

Method of producing an extensible paper having a three-dimensional pattern and a paper produced by the method

An apparatus for imprinting, drying, and reeling a fibrous web comprises a hot press including a pair of press members forming a nip therebetween for passage of the web therethrough and at least one clothing arranged to pass through the nip of the press with one side of the web in contact with a surface of the at least one clothing. The apparatus also includes a heat transfer device defining a heatable surface, the heat transfer device being arranged to pass through the nip of the press with the opposite side of the web in contact with the heatable surface, and a heating device operable to heat the heat transfer device such that the heat transfer device heats and dries the web during contact therewith. The apparatus further includes a reel-up including a rotatable reel spool onto which the web is reeled to form a finished roll of web material. At least one of the clothing surface and the heatable surface comprises an imprinting surface for imparting a textured surface to the side of the web in contact therewith in the nip of the hot press. The heat transfer device is arranged to support the web from the press substantially to the reel spool, and can comprise a surface of a surface winding drum, or a substantially rigid sleeve loosely encircling a rotatable roll or a flexible belt looped about a rotatable roll. The reel spool preferably is in nipping engagement with the heat transfer device.

Method and apparatus for imprinting, drying, and reeling a fibrous web

A paper machine for manufacturing a structured soft paper web are described, which machine has a wet section, a press section, a drying section and a web-carrying clothing running around a suction device close to a smooth impermeable belt in the press section for the creation of a transfer point. In accordance with the invention, structuring means for structuring the web are arranged between the press section and the drying section. The structuring means comprise either said clothing in the shape of a permeable wire, the structure of which is made up of depressions and arched surface parts, including knuckles in a quantity of 25-150 knuckles per cm,, and a suction device that, at a vacuum of 40-80 kPa, draws the web to the structured side of the wire so that the web acquires the structure of the wire, wherein the wire operates at a speed less than or equal to the speed of the belt, or a creping doctor that is located in a space between the belt and the clothing and in scraping contact with the belt so as to loose the web during simultaneous crinkling, the suction device having a suction gap for initial suction of the web firmly to the clothing for transfer to a drying cylinder. The web-carrying clothing operates then at a speed that is less than the speed of the belt.

Paper machine for manufacturing structured soft paper

An arrangement for feeding stock to a headbox in a papermaking machine which comprises at least one stock header with an inlet for receiving stock into the header and a plurality of stock header outlets permitting stock to leave the header. For each stock header outlet there is a stock conduit downstream of the stock header outlet permitting stock to pass from the stock header outlet, through the conduit to the inlet of the headbox. The arrangement includes a dilution header for feeding a diluent such as water to a plurality of stock conduits. The dilution header has an inlet for receiving a diluent not the dilution header and a plurality of outlets permitting the diluent to leave the dilution header. For each dilution header outlet, there is a diluent conduit permitting the passage of a diluent from the dilution header into a stock conduit. According to the invention, the diluent is fed into a stock conduit at a location immediately downstream of a stock header outlet and the stock header together with the stock header outlets is designated such that the velocity of the stock flowing through the stock header is substantially equal to the velocity of the stock in an upstream end of the stock conduits.

Arrangement for feeding stock to a headbox in a papermaking machine

An arrangement for feeding stock to a headbox in a papermaking machine which comprises at least one stock header with an inlet for receiving stock into the header and a plurality of stock header outlets permitting stock to leave the header. For each stock header outlet there is a stock conduit downstream of the stock header outlet permitting stock to pass from the stock header outlet, through the conduit to the inlet of the headbox. The arrangement includes a dilution header for feeding a diluent such as water to a plurality of stock conduits. The dilution header has an inlet for receiving a diluent into the dilution header and a plurality of outlets permitting the diluent to leave the dilution header. For each dilution header outlet, there is a diluent conduit permitting the passage of a diluent from the dilution header into a stock conduit. According to the invention, the diluent is fed into a stock conduit at a location immediately downstream of a stock header outlet and the stock header together with the stock header outlets is designed such that the velocity of the stock flowing through the stock header is substantially equal to the velocity of the stock in an upstream end of the stock conduits.

A tissue web (W), which has improved formation and improved tensile properties but no appreciable deterioration of retention and layer purity, if applicable, in comparison with tissue webs produced in conventional twin wire tissue formers, may be formed in a roll type twin wire former by draining 90-99%, preferably 98-99%, of all drainable water from the slurry while on the forming roll (1), preferably a suction forming roll, the remaining 1-10%, preferably 1-2%, of the drainable water being sufficient to have a substantial amount of the papermaking fibers free in the slurry during an initial phase of a subsequent step, and, downstream of said forming roll (1), draining said remaining 1-10%, preferably 1-2%, from the slurry while vibrating the slurry sufficiently to create a micro-turbulence causing a small scale agitation of the fibers to prevent them from forming any appreciable fibrous web (W) on the two forming fabrics (3; 4) until the water remaining in the slurry is insufficient for allowing the fibers to substantially change their position relative to one another. The vibration frequency is at least 100 Hz, and the vibrations may be provided by a multiblade hydrofoil (7).
