A device for medium access control in a node of a wireless communication network with shared medium, including: a registration module, configured to maintain in a scheduling table the use of slots, including timeslots and/or frequency channels; an information exchange module, configured to collect slot usage information indicative for the use of slots by neighbor nodes in the range of the node, this slot usage information specifying use of a slot for transmission by a neighbor node and/or use of a slot for receipt by a neighbor node; a slot allocation module, configured to allocate a slot for communication with a neighbor node by consulting the scheduling table in a slot allocation procedure with a neighbor node, resulting in an allocated slot.

Device and method for medium access control

A device for medium access control in a node of a wireless communication network with time-shared medium includes a slot allocation module configured to allocate a timeslot for transmission from the node to a destination node over the time-shared medium; a validation module configured to validate a data packet before transmission to the destination node based on a latency requirement for the data packet, and an expected latency for the data packet based on the position in time of the timeslot, resulting in an approved data packet or a disapproved data packet; a scheduling module configured to schedule an approved data packet in the timeslot for transmission to the destination node.

Device and method for application-requirement aware medium access control

A communication system comprising: input buffers adapted for buffering incoming data streams of samples from one or more channels; a receiver adapted for sequentially processing data from the input buffers; a processing rate of the receiver is higher than or equal to an incoming data rate of the incoming data; context memory adapted for saving an internal status of the receiver after processing the data corresponding with an input buffer before switching to a next input buffer and for restoring the internal status, wherein the receiver is adapted for processing the incoming data in a frame detection phase, and in a frame demodulation phase in which frames and/or subframes are demodulated into bits and wherein the internal status of the receiver related to an input buffer is only saved and restored in the frame detection phase or before and after demodulating subframes.
