An intramedullary intertrochanteric fracture fixation device includes an intramedullary nail having a proximal portion and a distal portion, a neck screw and a set screw assembly. The intramedullary nail defines an angulated opening in the proximal portion and includes an axial bore extending through a proximal end of the nail and into the angulated opening. The proximal portion further includes a compartment defined by an upper stop, a lower stop and a sidewall. The sidewall of the compartment defines a slot. The neck screw is insertable the angulated opening and includes a length and an exterior surface defining a groove. The set screw assembly is pre-operatively assembled within the proximal portion of the intramedullary nail and selectively moveable into the compartment for preventing rotational movement of the neck screw within the angulated opening of the intramedullary nail. The set screw is cannulated to receive a guidewire when pre-operatively assembled.

The intramedullary nail has a medial side, a lateral side and a proximal portion defining a longitudinal axis. The proximal portion includes a bore defining a first axis substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the proximal portion and a transverse bore configured to receive a bone fastener. The coupling unit is movably arranged within the bore of the proximal portion and includes one or more bone fastener engagement members at one or both of the lateral side and the medial side of the intramedullary nail.

An implant system for use in orthopedic surgery for fixation of bone includes an intramedullary nail and a coupling unit. The intramedullary nail has a proximal portion defining a longitudinal axis and a transverse bore. The proximal portion includes a bore defining a first axis and a guiding structure defining a second axis, wherein the first axis and the second axis are substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the proximal portion of the intramedullary nail and are spaced apart from each other. The coupling unit is movably arranged within the proximal portion and includes a substantially cylindrical pin and a drive member with a through hole. The guiding structure is configured to slidably receive the substantially cylindrical pin, such that the pin can engage within a groove of a bone fastener configured to penetrate the transverse bore of the intramedullary nail.

A first locking element in inserted through a guide block drill guide bore. A second locking element is mounted on the guide block and is engageable with a bone plate hole. The second locking element also has a tip for resiliently engaging walls of the bone plate hole wherein the tip of the first and second locking elements has a split portion. The first and second locking elements include an axially moveable rod for expanding the split tip portion to engage the plate

A means for the interconnection of two spaced elongated rods of a human spine implant, comprising a hook having a mouth and being adapted to partially grip around a first elongated rod, a transverse bar connected to the hook and gripping means adapted to be connected to the second elongated rod and to be attached to the transverse bar, whereby transverse bar and hook arm interconnected through a joint, the joint having joint portions which are adapted to be pivoted between a release position and a locking position, in that further locking means are provided which inhibit a pivoting of the joint portions of the hook to the release position and in that the joint portion connected to the transverse bar is structured such that in the release position the hook with its mouth can be freely placed onto the elongated rod while in the locking position the rod is locked within the mouth.
