A process for producing grain-oriented electrical steel strip by means of thin slab continuous casting and which includes continuously casting the smelt by thin slab continuous casting, subjecting the thin slabs to homogenization annealing at a maximum temperature of 1250&#xb0; C. and heating to a temperature between 1350&#xb0; C. and 1380&#xb0; C., and continuously hot rolling the thin slabs to form a hot-rolled strip, with cooling and reeling the hot-rolled strip to form a coil and cold rolling the hot-rolled strip to a nominal thickness, with subjecting the cold-rolled strip to recrystallization, decarburization and nitridation annealing, which includes a decarburization annealing phase and a subsequent nitridation annealing phase, with an intermediate reduction annealing phase being interposed between the decarburization annealing phase and the nitridation annealing phase, whereby a cold-rolled strip is obtained, which primary recrystallized grains have a circle equivalent mean size (diameter) between 22 &#x3bc;m and 25 &#x3bc;m.

Process for producing grain-oriented electrical steel strip

A method for continuous casting from molten metal, where metal flows vertically downward from a mold and the metal strip is then guided vertically downward along a vertical strand guide, cooling as it moves. The strip is then deflected from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction. In the terminal area of the deflection of the strip into the horizontal direction or after the deflection into the horizontal direction, a mechanical deformation of the strip is carried out. The strip is cooled at a heat-transfer coefficient of 3,000 to 10,000 W/(mK) in a first section downstream of the mold and upstream of the mechanical deformation of the strip. In a second section, downstream of the cooling, the surface of the strip is heated to a temperature above Ac3 or Ar3 by heat equalization in the strip, after which the mechanical deformation is carried out in a third section.

Method and apparatus for continuous casting

A method for continuous casting from molten metal, where metal flows vertically downward from a mold and metal strip is then guided vertically downward along a vertical strand guide, cooling as it moves. The strip is deflected from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction. In the terminal area of the deflection of the strip into the horizontal direction or after the deflection into the horizontal direction, a mechanical deformation of the strip is carried out. A method for the detection and classification of surface defects on continuously cast products using topographical information about the appearance of continuously cast surface defects and/or flaws are determined with respect to their exact position, evaluated with respect to their location and dimensions, and eliminated in accordance with the evaluation prior to further machining of the product, or are prevented by optimizing the process. The defects and/or flaws on the slab surface of the continuously cast preliminary product are detected and are stored with respect to their exact position and a detection of defects and/or flaws on the finished product is carried out and stored with respect to their exact position, and in that the information from the preliminary product is then compared with the information from the surface inspection on the finished product. Only the information which has led to, or can lead to, defects on the finished product is considered for the elimination of defects and/or flaws on the preliminary product.

Method for detecting and classifying surface defects on continuously cast slabs

The invention relates to a method and a system for the production of hot-rolled strip silicon-alloy steel for further processing into grain-oriented sheets, such as electrical sheets, wherein a cast product, in this case a thin slab, for example, with a maximum thickness of 120 mm, is subjected to thermal pretreatment and to a subsequent rolling process on a hot-rolling line to set a desired recrystallization state. The invention proposes an intake temperature (T) of the cast product () into the hot-rolling line (or) of at least 1200&#xb0; C., and preferably in excess of 1250&#xb0; C., which should be controlled during pretreatment by adding at least one preheating stage () and one intensive heating stage () to ensure the final rolling temperature (T).

Method of and apparatus for hot rolling a thin silicon-steel workpiece into sheet steel

A method for producing hot-rolled strip from austenitic stainless steels. In a first step, a cast product is subjected to a rolling operation in a rolling mill with a finishing train, and, in a second step, a heat treatment is carried out to prevent susceptibility to corrosion, especially intergranular corrosion due to chromium carbide precipitation. To establish the final rolling temperature (T), a run-in temperature (T) of the cast product into the finishing train of the rolling mill that is above 1,150&#xb0; C., and preferably above 1,200&#xb0; C., is established by a multistage heating process, especially a two-stage heating process, which comprises a preheating stage and an intensive heating stage, and the heat treatment is carried out by directly utilizing the rolling heat.

Method and installation for producing hot-rolled strip from austenitic stainless steels

An installation for producing hot-rolled strip from austenitic stainless steels; including a continuous casting machine and a rolling mill with a temperature adjustment system and a cooling system for cooling the rolling stock. The temperature adjustment system includes an installation having a furnace for preheating the cast slab to =1,150&#xb0; C. and an installation for intensive heating including an inductive heating zone for adjustment of the run-in temperature of the cast slab into the finishing train of the rolling mill to above 1,150&#xb0; C., for establishing a final rolling temperature to carry out the heat treatment by direct exploitation of the rolling heat. A reaction agent, which is different from water, is applied onto the slab prior to descaling or during descaling. The application of the reaction agent may be preceded by a conventional hydraulic, mechanical or pneumatic removal of the layer of scale which covers the slab.
