For a device for the alignment of sheets, which comprises at least one first and one second driving roller () and at least one pressure roller (), as well as at least one first and one second rotary drive () for rotating said first and second driving rollers (), respectively, about an axis of rotation (), a simple and cost-effective setup is achieved by at least one displacement drive for shifting at least the driving rollers () along the axis of rotation in such a manner that there is a change of distance between the driving rollers.

Device and method for the alignment of sheets

A lifting unit and a process for lifting a stack of sheets having at least a first support () and at least a second support () are described. The first support defines a first con-toured or flat support surface, and the second support defines a second support surface which has a substantially horizontal, flat main surface. In the lifting unit at least one unit is provided for lifting the first and second supports. During operation the supports are lifted such that at least a highest point of the first support is kept elevationally above the second support, the second support is lifted more quickly than the first support, and the substantially horizontal, flat main surface of the second support is kept in its horizontal alignment. The lifting unit is described, in combination with a sheet feeder.

A hold down clamp for holding down a stack of sheet material, preferably on a transportation trolley selectively in operative association with a printing machine. The hold down clamp has a vertically adjustable holding arm selectively lockable along a substantially upright guide member. The holding arm has at least one release member for releasing locking, the release member being movable in the direction away from the stack. This allows the holding arm to be pliable upwardly in case of emergency.

A paper transportation trolley with first guide members on the paper transportation trolley and second guide members on a coupling device of the printing machine for locking the paper transportation trolley to, and releasing it from the printing machine. The paper transportation trolley is movable over the coupling device, the first guide members sliding over the second guide members and the paper transportation trolley is connected to the coupling device by a retainer device.
