An epilator having at least two interchangeable attachments each having a different skin contact surface which defines the position of the skin relative to the epilating member when the attachment is mounted onto the epilator. According to the present system, each attachment has a coupling by which the attachment can be coupled to a driver of the epilator for vibrating the attachment.

A toothbrush comprises two parts (2, 3) which are pivotable relative to one another, of which a first part (2) serves as a handle and of which a second part (3) carries a brush-head (5), a spring (7) being arranged between the parts and having one end (8) fixedly connected to one (2) of the parts and having another end (9) which engages with a wall portion (11) of the second part (3), the second part (3) being pivotable relative to the first part (2) against a pressure exerted by the spring (7) during use of the toothbrush, which spring snaps when a given pressure threshold (P.sub.d) is exceeded, after which the second part (3) is subjected only to a bending load in the absence of a pressure (Q) directed in the longitudinal direction of the spring (7) and exerted by the wall portion (11), and resumes its original position when the pressure has decreased.

In a shaving apparatus (1) comprising a housing (2) and a shaving head (10) with a shaving-head frame (12) and a foil frame (31) at least two helical pressure springs (57, 58) act between the two frames (12, 31) and are each arranged in a circumferentially closed duct (45, 46) provided in one (31) of the two frames (12, 31), which duct also accommodates a piston-like pressure member (47, 48) which projects from the relevant duct (45, 46) and bears against the other one (12) of the two frames (12,31).

A shaving apparatus (1), which has an inclined housing side wall (9) comprising a first wall portion (22) and a second wall portion (23) connected to the first wall portion (22) by a curved transitional wall portion (24), comprises a movable trimmer (8) at the location of the first wall portion (22) and an actuating element (59) for controlling the movement of the trimmer (8), which element is arranged in the area (25) of the second wall portion (23). The trimmer (8) comprises a cutter support (26) which is coupled to the actuating element (59) via a coupling device (61). The coupling device (61) is formed by a single flexible coupling member which extends over the transitional wall portion (42) of the inclined side wall (9) and which is adapted to the curvature of the transitional wall portion (24).
