An apparatus () for forming bristle bundles () is provided. The apparatus () includes at least one bundle pocket (), intended to receive a bristle bundle () to be formed. The bundle pocket () has at least one piercing () in the side. A displacement device () on the apparatus () can be introduced into the bundle pocket () through this piercing () to create a clearance () inside a bristle bundle () to be formed. The bundle pocket () and the bristle bundle () located therein are heated by the heating device () in the apparatus () to fix the shape of the bristle bundle () defined by the bundle pocket () and the displacement device ().

An apparatus () for forming bristle bundles () is inter alia proposed as an improvement in the technical field of manufacturing and designing brushes. The apparatus () includes at least one bundle pocket () which is specified for receiving bristle bundles () to be formed. The bundle pocket () has a common bundle receptacle portion () for unifying at least two bristle bundles (). The bundle pocket () and the bristle bundles () situated therein are heated by the heating apparatus () of the apparatus () so as to set the shaping of the bristle bundles () that is predefined by the bundle pocket () and the displacement means ().

To improve the brush-making field, a tuft-picking device () is provided, which includes the tuft picker () that is movable in relation to the material box () of the brush-making machine () and, on its front side (), which in the operating position faces the bristle supply () held in the material box (), includes at least one tuft-picking notch (). The tuft-picking notch () has two opposing knife edges (), which delimit the notch opening () of the tuft-picking notch () and are oriented transverse to the direction of movement of the tuft picker (). Another part of the tuft-picking device () is the counter piece (), which is provided with the separating edge () facing the tuft picker (). In order to allow bristle filaments () to be removed from the bristle supply () as gently as possible, at least one of the two knife edges () and/or the separating edge () is rounded.

A method and device () for producing and machining screwed-in brushes (). In the method and in the device, at least one grinding sleeve () is used to grind down free bristle ends () of a brush () to be machined and thus remove edges and/or burrs on the free bristle ends ().

A transfer station for bristle filaments that are fed to the transfer station in bristle bundles is provided. The bristle filaments are assembled in bundle form by at least one band and are transferred to a magazine in which the bristle filaments are stored. The transfer station has at least two pairs of gripping fingers spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the bundles, with the gripping fingers of the gripping-finger pairs being movable relative to one another in order to grip a bristle bundle by a distance between said gripping fingers being reduced. The gripping-finger pairs grip the bristle bundle such that the band of the bristle bundle is arranged between adjacent gripping-finger pairs. This makes it possible for the bristle filaments fed in bundle form to be transferred in an automated manner to the magazine arranged upstream of a stuffing tool of a brush-production machine.

The brush is populated with a carrier pad, and to enable simplification of the manufacture of bristle arrangements for brushes, the bristle bundles which are conveyed by a gas or air stream through the conveying device to the bundle-retaining plate, when being conveyed through the conveying device are electrostatically discharged, such that they are more easily conveyed through the conveying device, and in that they reduce the complexity in the fastening of bristle bundles in a carrier pad without anchoring, since the carrier pad on the rear side has material protrusions which are fused and thereafter interference-fitted in a bundle-fastening plane, in order for bristle bundles which have been incorporated into the perforations of the carrier pad to be connected in a form-fitting and/or force-fitting manner to the carrier pad in a simple manner.

An apparatus () for producing bristle arrangements for brushes, in particular toothbrushes, having a bristle supply () and an apparatus () for extracting individual bundles () of bristles from the bristle supply (), and also having a transporting apparatus for transporting the bundles () of bristles by way of at least one hollow line () by means of a stream of gas or air in perforations in a bundle-retaining plate, is characterized in that the apparatus () for extracting the bundles () of bristles from the bristle supply () has at least one bundle holder (), and in that the bundle holder(s) () of the extraction means (), the inner contour () of the hollow line(s) () and the perforations in the bundle-retaining plate are each contoured in a manner corresponding to the bundle contour which is desired in the bristle arrangement.
