An extruder head has a stationary head part and upper and lower head parts pivotal about respective upper and lower axes on the stationary part between inner positions closely juxtaposed with each other and with the stationary part and outer positions separated from each other and from the stationary part. Respective upper and lower latches engageable between the respective movable head parts and the stationary head part retain the movable parts against the stationary part. A crosswise latch engageable between the movable head parts retains the movable parts against each other in the inner positions thereof. The crosswise latch includes an actuator mounted on one of the movable head parts and a retaining member engageable with the other of the movable head parts. The actuator is a hydraulic cylinder having a piston rod forming the retaining member. More particularly the cylinder is mounted on the upper movable head part.

Extruder head with pivotal parts

An extruder head assembly has a main stationary part adapted to be connected to a plurality of extruders, two head parts pivotal on the main part, and respective actuators associated with the pivotal head parts and having piston rods movable along respective longitudinal axes from the respective pivotal head parts to the stationary part. At least one of the actuators is mounted directly on the respective pivotal head part. Latches including interengaging formations on the stationary part and an outer end of the rod of the one actuator lock the pivotal head parts tightly against the stationary main part.

Multiple-extruder head assembly with pivotal head parts

An extruder head assembly includes an extruder head having an abutment face and an internal flow channel terminating at the abutment face; first and second preforming dies and a preforming die drum removably accommodating the first and second preforming dies in a spaced relationship to one another. The drum is supported at the extruder head for rotation about an axis relative to the extruder head for selectively aligning one of the first and second preforming dies with the internal flow channel at the abutment face of the extruder head. Further, a releasable immobilizing mechanism is provided for pressing the drum against the abutment face, thereby placing the preforming die--aligned earlier with the flow channel--in an operative position.

Extruder head assembly

An extrusion tool includes an end plate, a plate holder cassette seating the end plate and having opposite first and second faces; an extrusion head seating the cassette, and a first clamping device having an operative position for pressing the cassette and the end plate as a unit against the extrusion head by engaging an outer face of the end plate. The first clamping device further has a withdrawn position in which it permits a removal of the end plate from the cassette and a removal of the cassette from the extrusion head. There is a further provided a second clamping device for pressing, in a clamping position thereof, the cassette against the extrusion head by engaging a front face of the cassette externally of the end plate, whereby the end plate is, in the withdrawn position of the first clamping device, removable from the cassette while the cassette remains pressed against the extrusion head by the second clamping device.

The extruder head has a hydraulic cylinder for the movable upper head member and/or the movable lower head member attached to each side of a stationary head member rigidly whose piston rod is extendable in the direction of the movable head member. Between the free ends of the piston rods and the associated movable head member there is provided a releasable connection means under tension. This connection means comprises at least two radial projections on the piston rod distributed uniformly about the circumference of the piston rod and a passage corresponding to the shape of the projection with a contacting surface in and/or on the associated head member. To loosen or release the connection means the piston rod is rotated about half a partial angle determined by the number of projections.
