An electronic device includes a user input surface configured to receive a user touch location and a user force input, one or more sensors positioned relative to the user input surface and configured to detect a force applied to the user input surface, and a controller in communication with the one or more sensors. The controller is configured to detect a first sensor response utilizing a first force applied to the user input surface via the one or more sensors and a first position of the first force applied, wherein the first position is relative to the user input surface, simulate a multi-finger force being applied by utilizing at least the first sensor response to form simulated multi-finger data, and deploy a model associated with the multi-finger force, wherein the model is utilized to output a predicted force and predicted location of an applied force relative to the input surface.

A method for providing haptic feedback to an operator of a touch-sensitive display device. The method includes providing an operator interface to be represented in the display device as image data; the operator interface having at least one button assigned to a function to be controlled, graphically displayed in the operator interface, and graphically delimited from the rest of the operator interface; analyzing the image data for a presence and a position of shapes for representing a button; determining an intended display region of a shape, which is to be represented and is identified as a button; representing the image data of the operator interface in the touch-sensitive display device; outputting haptic feedback in response to detection of contact with the touch-sensitive display device in the region of a surface of the touch-sensitive display device which is assigned to a display region of a shape identified as a button.

Method for providing haptic feedback to an operator of a touch-sensitive display device

Guidance of an optical scanning device

A method is provided for regulating the tracking of a scanning device, for example, a read/write head, of a drive. A drive for storage media having a scanning device is also provided, permitting improved regulation of the positioning of the scanning device. A measured position of scanning device with respect to a storage medium inserted into the drive is compared with a preselected position. Depending on the result of the comparison, at least one actuator is controlled so that the scanning device is moved in the direction of the preselected position. Acceleration acting on the scanning device is measured in a direction of movement of at least one actuator. A correction signal is derived from the measured acceleration and sent to the at least one actuator, the actuator being controlled by the correction signal so that it counteracts the acceleration acting on the scanning device.

Method for regulating the tracking of a scanning device and drive for the same

Spring arrangement for mounting a vibration- or shock-sensitive device attached to a supporting member in a housing, with the supporting member being fastened to the housing by helical spring elements. The supporting member is suspended in the housing by helical spring elements so that each elastic force component of one spring applied to the supporting member in a specific direction is counteracted by at least one elastic force component of another spring applied in the opposite direction so that the supporting member remains approximately in the center of the vibration clearance provided regardless of the position in which the housing is mounted in a motor vehicle. Due to the opposing elastic forces of the springs, the spring constant and therefore the natural frequency of the overall system can be advantageously increased, thus avoiding undesired points of resonance at low frequencies.
