The invention relates to a method for producing an optical arrangement (), in which an optical component () is optically connected to at least one waveguide () provided on or in a carrier substrate (). In order to enable an optical component to be connected to an optical waveguide of a carrier substrate in a particularly simple and thus cost-effective manner, the invention provides for there to be arranged between the optical component () and the waveguide () an adjustment device () with at least one auxiliary waveguide (), the waveguide ends () of which are in each case movable and an optical adjustment between the optical component () and the waveguide () of the carrier substrate () is effected by a mechanical adjustment of the movable waveguide ends ().

Method for producing an optical arrangement

The invention relates to a planar optical circuit having a waveguide structure and at least one monolithic or hybrid integrated optical component. A mechanism for influencing the propagation of scattered light in the planar optical circuit in a targeted manner is employed and integrated into the planar optical circuit. The disadvantageous effects of scattered light are reduced in that scattered light is captured, absorbed, reflected or concentrated onto a narrow region by means of the integrated structures.

Planar optical circuit

The invention relates to a thermo-optical waveguide switch which is located on a substrate. Said switch comprises a glass layer, through which a waveguide extends. A hollow chamber which lies beneath the waveguide thermally decouples the latter from the substrate. At least two supports are located in the hollow chamber to provide mechanical stability. One production method for obtaining a thermo-optical waveguide switch consists of creating a glass layer with an arrangement of perforations on a substrate. At least one hollow chamber containing at least two supports is formed by isotropically underetching the glass layer. The hollow chamber is subsequently sealed and a waveguide is formed above said hollow chamber. Another production method first creates a waveguide in a glass layer which is formed on a substrate. The glass layer in the vicinity of the waveguide is then removed using a mask and the waveguide is at least partially underetched by an isotropic etching process, thus forming a hollow chamber containing at least two supports below the waveguide.

Thermo-optical waveguide switch

A configuration for multiplexing and/or demultiplexing the signals of at least two optical wavelength channels, is described. Provided in this case is a grating device having an optical grating, a first optical free beam region and a second optical free beam region. Accordingly, radiation is coupled into and out of the first free beam region via a coupling device which effects a flattening and/or widening of the field distribution of the light coupled in or out, at least in the plane of the first free beam region. This permits a transmission characteristic of the configuration to be flattened.

Configuration for multiplexing and/or demultiplexing the signals of at least two optical wavelength channels

The invention relates to a module for multiplexing and/or demultiplexing optical signals, having at least one wavelength-selective filter for multiplexing or demultiplexing into the module optical signals which have been coupled in or out, light beams of at least one optical channel respectively striking a wavelength-selective filter at a specific angle of incidence and, in the process, being separated from the light beams of other optical channels or being combined therewith. According to the invention, at least one wavelength-selective filter (Fi) can be set with reference to the angle of incidence of the light beams. The invention makes available a module in the case of which the center wavelength of a filter can be set precisely on the basis of the adjustability of the angle of incidence and, moreover, a specific filter (Fi) can also be used for several wavelengths.
