A process and a plant are specified, with which free fatty acids can be obtained in a simple manner by hydrolysis of fatty acid alkyl esters, especially fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), or alternatively of fatty acid triglycerides present in oils and fats of vegetable and animal origin. According to the invention, a portion of the free fatty acids already produced is recycled back into the reaction mixture, which results in self-acceleration of the hydrolysis reaction.

Process for preparing fatty acids by ester hydrolysis

A process and a plant for producing olefins from oxygenates such as methanol and/or dimethyl ether are proposed, in which initially the oxygenates are converted to a primary product containing propylene, other olefins, paraffins and aromatics in an olefin synthesis reactor. The primary product is separated into hydrocarbon fractions of different C chain length, wherein short-chain olefins such as propylene are obtained and beside further fractions there is also obtained a Cfraction which contains C/Colefins, as well as a Cfraction which contains aromatics. From the latter, the aromatics are separated and alkylated with the C/Colefins to obtain alkyl aromatics. The same are hydrogenated completely and recirculated to the olefin synthesis reactor, where they likewise are converted to short-chain olefins.

Process and plant for the recovery and utilization of higher olefins in the olefin synthesis from oxygenates

Subject-matter of the invention is a process for producing fatty alcohols by catalytic hydrogenation of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME), in which the FAME initially is hydrogenated to fatty alcohol (FA). The fractions of non-converted FAME remaining in the hydrogenation product are converted to wax ester and methanol in a succeeding transesterification step with FA. According to the invention, catalysts on the basis of magnesium oxide or hydrotalcite are used. After separating the methanol and the FA as target product, a stream enriched in wax ester is recirculated to the hydrogenation reactor.
