Method of cladding tubes

An explosive composition comprises one or several self-detonating explosives, such as PETN, HMX, TNT or RDX, desensitized by wax or water and one or several inert materials. The invention is characterized in that the inert material or a part thereof consists of a rubber of the type silicone rubber or latex rubber, which inert material constitutes matrix or binding agent. The components after being mixed together constitute a composition, which can be cast, extruded or rolled-out.

Water resistant elastic explosive mixture

A method of explosion welding magnesium-alloyed aluminium to high strength material. The invention is characterized in that the magnesium-alloyed aluminium material comprises base material (4) and that the base material is clad or coated with a thin cladding plate (3) consisting of the afore mentioned high strength material, in that an explosive charge (1) is caused to accelerate a drive plate (2) made of a high density material, preferably steel, which in turn is arranged to accelerate the cladding material (3) towards the base material (4), where the amplitude of the pressure generated between the cladding material and the base material is caused to take a value which is so low that the temperature in the whole of the joint surface, or substantially the whole of the joint surface, is below the boiling point of the alloying substances of the aluminium material, while bringing, at the same time, the amplitude or duration of this pressure to such a high level as to produce an impulse which is sufficient to cause the materials to weld to one another, and in that the free surface of the high-strength cladding material (3) is explosion welded, in a later stage, to a base material (6) consisting of steel or some other high strength metal.

Method of explosion welding alloy aluminium

A charging system for seam welding two or more workpieces by means of explosion welding, comprising an explosive charge and an inert impulse-transmitting body located between the explosive charge and the workpiece nearest the charge. The invention is characterized in that the surface (11) of the inert body (2) facing the workpiece is so configured in a plane extending at right angles to the longitudinal extension of the ultimate weld seam that the angle .alpha. between the surface (11) and the workpiece (3) varies from the center line (C--C) of the inert body (2) perpendicularly to the surface of the workpiece and outwardly from the center line.

Charging system in the explosion welding of planar or curved workpieces

The invention relates to a method for welding different materials. An adapted quantity of additive material in the form of particles (3) is accelerated with the aid of an explosive charge (1) and a propulsion element (2) to a high velocity down into a joint space (8), where the particles collide with the workpieces (4, 5) and bond thereto and to themselves.
