A method performed by a first radio network node for handling communication in a wireless communications network providing, is provided. The wireless communications network comprises the first radio network node () and a second radio network node () relaying data packets between a central network node () and a UE (). The first radio network node is an intermediate network node between the second radio network node and the central network node. The first radio network node detects () congestion over a link towards the second radio network node. Upon detection of the congestion the first radio network node adds a marking in a header in a data packet and transmits () the data packet towards the second radio network node.

Detecting congestion at an intermediate IAB node

The disclosure provides methods, apparatus and machine-readable mediums relating to buffer status reporting in wireless communication systems. One aspect provides a method performed by a user equipment. The user equipment is configurable to communicate with a radio access node via a plurality of communication protocols, and to communicate with a network node via at least one congestion-controlled application transport protocol. The method comprises: generating a buffer status report comprising an indication of a first amount of data available for transmission from the user equipment, the first amount of data including at least data stored in a buffer for data conforming to the congestion-controlled application transport protocol; and transmitting the buffer status report to the radio access node.

Buffer status reporting in wireless communication systems

Embodiments include methods for handling data units in a communication protocol layer (e.g., PDCP) of a network node for a wireless communications network. Such methods include receiving, from a lower protocol layer, one or more first data units with corresponding first sequence numbers. Such methods include, upon expiration of a first timer, forwarding the first data units to a higher protocol layer without receiving one or more second data units, from the lower protocol layer, with corresponding second sequence numbers that are lower than the first sequence numbers. Such methods include forwarding, to the higher protocol layer, any of the second data units that were received from the lower protocol layer during a second time period after expiration of the first timer. Other embodiments include network nodes (e.g., base stations, UEs) configured to perform such methods, as well as computer-readable media containing instructions that embody such methods.

A network nodeand a method for Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) reordering. The network node is operating in a wireless communications network. The network node buffers in order one or more first data units received out of order by a PDCP layer, wherein the one or more first data units are received from a lower layer during a first time period, and wherein the lower layer is a layer below the PDCP layer. When the first time period has expired, the network node forwards the one or more buffered first data units in order to an upper layer and starts a second time period. Further, the network node forwards, to the upper layer and in any order, one or more second data units received from the lower layer during the second time period.

There is provided a method performed by a first network node for enabling network congestion management in a wireless network. The method comprises the step of encapsulating and sending user packets in a tunnel to a second network node, wherein each packet comprises information related to a byte loss volume for the tunnel. The method further comprises the step of receiving congestion volume information for the tunnel from the second network node. The method also comprises either the step of applying network congestion policing for the tunnel based on the received congestion volume information, or alternatively the step of forwarding the received congestion volume information to a third network node, to enable network congestion policing for the tunnel based on the received congestion volume information.

A flow management method comprises receiving () of incoming downlink packets. The received downlink packets are classified () in sub-flows, based on information that is available in a header of respective such received downlink packet. The downlink packets of each sub-flow are queued () in a respective sub-flow queue. Downlink packets are extracted () from the sub-flow queues into a common outgoing flow. A sub-flow queue from which no downlink packets yet have been extracted is prioritized (). The extraction comprises assigning of an indicator of last service occasion to each sub-flow queue when a predetermined amount of data has been extracted from said sub-flow queue. When no prioritized sub-flow queues are present, the sub-flow queue with the earliest last service is selected. When a prioritized sub-flow queue is present, the prioritized subflow queue is selected. The downlink packets of the common outgoing flow are sent ().

Downlink flow management

A method for localized congestion exposure within a local loop in a cellular network that is performed by a localized congestion exposure receiver node of the local loop. The method includes receiving downlink packets destined for a downstream user device. The downlink packets have headers that indicate a level of congestion experienced by the downlink packets. The headers also indicate a level of expected downstream congestion declared by an upstream node. The method also includes forwarding the downlink packets to the downstream user device through a wireless connection. The method further includes sending packets upstream that have feedback indicative of the level of congestion experienced by the downlink packets and any congestion experienced within the localized congestion exposure receiver node.

Localized congestion exposure

A method of localized congestion exposure within a local loop in a cellular network that is performed by a localized congestion exposure sender node of the local loop. The method includes receiving downlink packets that are destined for a downstream user device. The method also includes receiving packets that have feedback indicating a congestion level from a downstream node of the cellular network. The method further includes inserting a declaration of an expected downstream congestion level into headers of the received downlink packets; and forwarding the downlink packets that have the declaration of the expected downstream congestion level inserted into the headers toward the downstream user device.

A method of controlling a receiver of a data unit communication from a data source is described, said receiver being associated with a first terminal of a data unit communication network providing said first terminal with a transport service characterized by a set of values associated with respective service quality parameters, said service quality parameters comprising a Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR), said data source being associated with a second terminal. The method comprises determining, by the receiver, whether a received data unit contains an Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN). If said ECN is detected, the method further comprises sending, from the receiver, to said data source a message for adjusting a data transmission rate of said data source, said message indicating as an upper bound for said data transmission rate a value corresponding to a value associated with the GBR for said first transport service.

In order to efficiently handle the switch between user media and announcement media, a basic step is to first determine a configuration of the user media. Next, a configuration of the announcement media to be presented is determined based on the determined user media configuration. Subsequently, the announcement media is configured according to the announcement media configuration, and the configured announcement media is finally sent to the intended user. In this way, the overall appearance or sound of the announcement will be virtually the same as or at least similar to the overall appearance or sound of the user media, preferably without distortions.
