An endoscopic system and method for its operation are disclosed. The system comprises a light source, an endoscope with a distal light entrance surface, an image sensor capturing images through the light entrance surface and a rinsing device for providing a rinsing fluid flow for rinsing the light entrance surface, the method including the steps of receiving a sensor signal from a sensor detecting a user input starting a rinsing operation of the rinsing device, and, upon receipt of the sensor signal, changing an illumination mode of the light source from a first illumination mode to a second illumination mode and/or changing the video capture from a first video capture mode to a second video capture mode. The second illumination and/or video capture mask undesirable visual artifacts which can occur when collecting images with a rolling shutter sensors while performing a liquid flush of the light entrance surface.

Endoscope and endoscopic system

A system includes an endoscope connector and an endoscope adapter. The endoscope connector includes a first portion. The first portion includes a first magnetic coupling element and a first planar portion that is perpendicular to an axial direction of the endoscope connector. The endoscope adapter includes a second planar portion. The second planar portion includes a second magnetic coupling element and a substantially planar surface that is perpendicular to an axial direction of the endoscope adapter. The endoscope connector is non-mechanically attachable to the endoscope adapter using the first magnetic coupling element and the second magnetic coupling element. The first planar portion is alignable with the second planar portion such that: electroconductive contacts of the endoscope connector are axially aligned with electroconductive pins of the endoscope adapter and a port of the endoscope connector is axially aligned with a corresponding insertion port of the endoscope adapter.

A tubular working channel sheath that includes a working channel, a first sheath layer that defines the working channel and includes at least one plastic material. The first sheath layer has a constant layer thickness along an entire length of the working channel. The tubular working channel sheath includes a second sheath layer that includes at least one further plastic material different than the plastic material of the one sheath layer. The second sheath layer has a tapered layer thickness along a length of the working channel, and the tapered layer thickness tapers between a proximal end and a distal end of the working channel.

Video endoscope comprising a distal end with a video camera assembly and a lens assembly arranged along a longitudinal axis, the video camera assembly comprising a video module, a video module holder, a proximal bushing arranged on the video module holder, a metal shield enclosing the video module along the longitudinal axis, and a flexible video cable, wherein the video cable is connected to the video module, runs through the video module holder and the proximal bushing away from the video module and is in contact with the bushing, wherein the video module comprises a video imager and control circuitry, wherein the metal shield has on its outside a dielectric coating obtained by material treatment of the metal shield, and wherein a maximum cross section of the distal end is less than 0.75 cm. An image sensor module includes a circuit board, an image sensor, and a turning prism. The circuit board has first and second side sections each extending in a respective plane transverse to a plane of a center section to define a module interior volume. The image sensor has a bottom plane mounted on an inner face of the circuit board within the module interior volume. The turning prism has a mounting surface secured to a top plane of the image sensor. An electronic component arrangement is operatively mounted on the inner face of the circuit board between the image sensor and a circuit board rearward end. A number of wires providing power and data connections to the circuit board are operatively connected to contacts located on the circuit board in the interior volume between the electronic component arrangement and the circuit board rearward end.
