A method and an electronic device are provided in which, in a first unit pixel of an image sensor, a first analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) is performed by reading out a first photodiode (PD) group and a second PD group that is adjacent to the first PD group in a first direction. A second ADC is performed by reading out a third PD group that is adjacent to the first PD group in a second direction. The second direction is perpendicular to the first direction. A third ADC is performed by reading out a fourth PD group that is adjacent to the second PD group in the second direction. A first phase difference in the second direction is detected based on the first ADC, the second ADC, and the third ADC. A second phase difference in the first direction is detected based on the second ADC and the third ADC.

Electronic device including image sensor and operating method thereof

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes an image sensor including a plurality of unit pixels, each unit pixel including two or more individual pixels, and at least one processor. The at least one processor is configured to acquire a first image frame from the image sensor, determine a photographing environment of the electronic device, based on the first image frame, and, in response to the photographing environment corresponding to a first photographing environment, control the image sensor to acquire analog data through the individual pixels, and provide first digital data digitally converted from the analog data with first sensitivity, and second digital data digitally converted from the analog data with second sensitivity which is higher than the first sensitivity, and acquire a second image frame which follows the first image frame, based on the first digital data and the second digital data.

According to an embodiment disclosed in this specification, an electronic device may include a camera including an image sensor, a display panel, a display driver integrated circuit (DDI) that drives the display panel at a first frame rate, a memory, and a processor operatively connected to the camera, the display panel, the DDI, and the memory. The DDI may drive the display panel in a plurality of cycles to output one frame corresponding to the first frame rate. The camera may perform exposure of the image sensor in a section, in which one or more lines among lines constituting the display panel do not emit light, in the plurality of cycles. The memory may store instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to determine illuminance around the electronic device using image data according to the exposure. Moreover, various embodiment found through the disclosure are possible.

Method for measuring illuminance using camera and supporting the same

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a camera with an image sensor including a plurality of image pixels arranged in a first direction and a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, for converting light incident on a plurality of micro-lenses into an electrical signal, performing a first correlation calculation for phase difference detection in the first direction based on the electrical signal, and outputting image data including a first phase difference correlation calculation value, an ISP configured to perform a second correlation calculation for phase difference detection in the second direction using phase difference information about the image data, and a driver configured to adjust a focus of the camera based on the first phase difference correlation calculation value for the first direction and a second phase difference correlation calculation value for the second direction.
