The extensions support the touch panel. The rear cover is configured to receive the bottom chassis. The bottom chassis is disposed between the rear cover and the touch panel. One of the walls of the bottom chassis includes an opening. The protrusion is configured to engage the opening to couple the optical sheet to the bottom chassis.

A display apparatus includes a receiving container, a backlight assembly, a display panel, a touch screen assembly, a first mold frame, and a second mold frame. The receiving container includes a bottom portion and side walls that extend from the bottom portion, and the backlight assembly is contained in the receiving container to generate light. The display panel is positioned to receive light from the backlight assembly to display an image, and the touch screen assembly is disposed on the display panel to detect a touch event occurring thereon. The first mold frame is coupled to the receiving container to support a first edge part of the display panel. The display device includes a display panel, a circuit board, a light guide plate disposed under the display panel to guide a light toward the display panel, a molding member disposed between the display panel and the light guide plate, and a covering member extending from a lower surface of the light guide plate to an upper surface of the display panel. The light guide plate has a supporting portion that protrudes from a side surface of the light guide plate to support the circuit board disposed adjacent to an edge of the display panel. The molding member supports the display panel. The covering member fixes the components of the display device. This way a display device is provided that does not need a bottom chassis, thereby the assembling of the display panel is simplified.
