A liquid fire extinguishing composition is obtained by mixing a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 halogenated alkane such as Halone 1301 (CF.sub.3 Br), Halone 1211 (CF.sub.2 ClBr), or a mixture thereof with an organophosphorus compound, or the mixture thereof for a wide variety of a fire extinguishment and no residues after fire extinguishing.

A process for the prepaation of d-2-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)-propionic acid of formula (I) used as nonsteroid antipyretic analgesics, which comprises reacting oxazolidinone of formula (II) with 6-methoxy-2-naphthylacetchloride of formula (IV), methylizing [N-(y-methoxy-2-naphthyl)acetyl]-oxazolidinone of formula (N), and reacting[N-(2S)-2-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)-propionyl]-oxazolidinone of formula (VI) in alkali metal hydroxy, and intermediate compound obtained by the process, [N-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)acetyl]-oxazolidinone of formula (V) and [N-(2S)-2-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)-propionyl]-oxazolidinone (VI) ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is methyl, isopropyl, secondary-butyl, tert-butyl, benzyl, or phenyl group, and R.sup.2 is hydrogen or phenyl group.

Process for preparing D-2-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)-propionic acid and

A new process for the preparation of a 3-(4'-bromobiphenyl-4-yl)tetralin-1-one known as a key intermediate for the production of rodenticides and clinical medicines is provided. The title compound is prepared from P-bromobiphenylbenzylketone in three steps, wherein one of key inventions is dehydroxylation of 3-(4'-bromobiphenyl)-3-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyric acid ethyl ester using trialkylsilane in trifluoroacetic acid. This new process offers a high yield with a facile way and is more suitable for a commercial production than the prior art methods.
