A self-healing passive optical network is disclosed. The network includes a central office and a remote node connected to the central office through a main optical fiber. The remote node transmits one portion of power of the upstream optical signal, which has been input from each of the optical network units, to the central office, and returning a remaining portion of the power of the upstream optical signal to the optical network unit. The network also includes a plurality of optical network units connected to the remote node through a plurality of distribution optical fibers. Each of the optical network units transmits an upstream optical signal to the remote node through the directly connected distribution optical fiber, and detects abnormality occurrences from a state of the upstream optical signal returning from the remote node.

Disclosure is a wavelength division multiplexed-passive optical network having a bus structure capable of connecting one central office to a plurality of remote nodes through one optical fiber. The wavelength division multiplexed-passive optical network (WDM-PON) having a bus structure includes a central office for downwardly transferring downstream optical signals having different wavelengths through a feeder fiber and for receiving upstream optical signals upwardly transferred through the feeder fiber; a plurality of remote nodes including at least a first remote node connected to the central office through the feeder fiber and a second remote node connected to the first remote node through the feeder fiber, dropping optical signals having corresponding wavelengths from among downwardly-transferred optical signals from the central office to at least one subscriber unit connected to each of the remote nodes, and adding the upstream optical signals, which are upwardly transferred from each subscriber unit, so as to upwardly transfer the upstream optical signals to the central office; and at least one subscriber unit for receiving the optical signals having the corresponding wavelengths dropped from each of the remote nodes and for upwardly transferring the upstream optical signals having different wavelengths through each of the remote nodes.

An optical preamplifier with an amplification unit is for amplifying an optical signal and compensating dispersion of the optical signal after receiving the optical signal from an optical transmitter, and thereof for supplying the optical signal to an optical receiver. The optical preamplifier includes a first wavelength division multiplexor WDM for multiplexing the inputted optical signal and a pumping light, an erbium doped fiber EDF for amplifying the optical signal multiplexed in the WDM in maximum, while non-linear phenomena do not happen in a following dispersion compensating fiber module DCFM, an optical isolator band pass filter ISOF for passing only the optical signal with a bandwidth of a predetermined wavelength among the optical signal amplified by EDF, the DCFM for damping an optical intensity of the optical signal within the optimum level of the optical signal for the optical receiver, while compensating the dispersion of the optical signal from the ISOF, and a first tap coupler dividing the optical signal from the DCFM in constant ratio for controlling the optical intensity of the pumping light and for being outputted to the optical receiver.
