A liquid crystal polymer including structural units derived from an aromatic hydroxy carboxylic acid in an amount of greater than about 30 mol % and less than or equal to about 50 mol %, an aromatic dicarboxylic acid which includes about 50 mol % or greater of a structural unit derived from a compound including two carboxyl groups at a meta-position of an aromatic ring in an amount greater than or equal to about 50 mol % of the amount of the structural unit derived from the aromatic hydroxy carboxylic acid, each based on total moles of the structural units in the liquid crystal polymer, and an aromatic diol that is 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl, hydroquinone, or a combination thereof; a composite composition including the liquid crystal polymer, an article produced from the liquid crystal polymer or the composite composition, a battery case including the article, and a battery including the battery case and an electrode assembly.

A battery casing including a container configured to house an electrode assembly, wherein the container includes a bottom wall and a plurality of side walls, the bottom wall and the plurality of side walls are integrated to define an open side opposite to the bottom wall and to define a space for housing the electrode assembly, at least one of the bottom wall and plurality of the side walls includes a composite including a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer and a nanoclay dispersed in the thermotropic liquid crystal polymer, wherein the main chain of the thermotropic liquid crystal polymer includes an aromatic oxycarbonyl repeating unit and an alkylene moiety-containing repeating unit, and at least a portion of the nanoclay is present in an exfoliated state, and an X-ray diffraction pattern of the composite does not exhibit an intrinsic peak corresponding to the nanoclay.

An electromagnetic switching system for use in a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system having a personal rapid transit vehicle with an attached chassis operating over a network of interconnected guideways. The electromagnetic switching system comprises an electromagnetic switching unit mounted on each side of the chassis for directing the transit vehicle into a predetermined path at a switch section of the guideway. The electromagnetic switching unit has an electromagnet for exerting magnetic force on a continuous reaction rail which is attached to an internal sidewall of the guideway.
