A separator for an electrochemical device having a porous polymer substrate having a plurality of pores; and a porous coating layer formed on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate. The porous coating layer includes a dispersing agent, a mixture of inorganic particles and a particle-type binder polymer, and a polyvinyl pyrrolidone binder polymer positioned on the whole or a part of the surface of the inorganic particles in the mixture of the porous coating layer to connect and fix the inorganic particles with one another. The content of the polyvinyl pyrrolidone binder polymer is 2 to 20 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the total content of the particle-type binder polymer and the polyvinyl pyrrolidone binder polymer.

Separator for lithium secondary battery and method for manufacturing same

A separator and an electrochemical device including the same. The separator includes an adhesive layer including first adhesive resin particles having an average particle diameter corresponding to 0.8-3 times of an average particle diameter of the inorganic particles and second adhesive resin particles having an average particle diameter corresponding to 0.2-0.6 times of the average particle diameter of the inorganic particles, wherein the first adhesive resin particles are present in an amount of 30-90 wt % based on a total weight of the first adhesive resin particles and the second adhesive resin particles. The separator shows improved adhesion to an electrode and provides an electrochemical device with decreased increment in resistance after lamination with an electrode.

A separator for an electrochemical device, including: a porous polymer substrate having a plurality of pores; and a porous coating layer on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate, wherein the porous coating layer comprises boehmite particles and a binder polymer, wherein the binder polymer is positioned on at least a part of the surface of the boehmite particles and connects and fixes the boehmite particles with one another. The boehmite particles have an average particle diameter of 2.0 μm to 3.5 μm and a specific surface area of 4.0 m/g to 4.5 m/g, and one side of the porous coating layer has a thickness of 2 μm to 10 μm.

A separator including: a porous polymer substrate having a plurality of pores; and a porous coating layer on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate. The porous coating layer comprises inorganic particles, core-shell type polymer particles having a core portion and a shell portion surrounding the core portion, and a binder polymer positioned on the whole or a part of the surface of the inorganic particles and core-shell type polymer particles to connect and fix the inorganic particles and core-shell type polymer particles with one another. The core portion has a glass transition temperature, T, higher than the shell portion in the core-shell type polymer particles. The ratio of the average diameter of the core-shell type polymer particles to the average diameter of the inorganic particles is 80% to 200%.

A separator which includes: a porous polymer substrate having a plurality of pores; a separator base including a porous coating layer formed on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate; and an adhesive layer formed on at least one surface of the separator base, said adhesive layer comprising a plurality of second inorganic particles and adhesive resin particles, wherein the weight ratio of the second inorganic particles to the adhesive resin particles is 5:95-60:40, and the diameter of the adhesive resin particles is 1.1-3.5 times the diameter of the second inorganic particles. An electrochemical device including the separator is also disclosed. The separator shows improved adhesion between an electrode and the separator, maintains the pores of the adhesive layer even after a process of electrode lamination, and improves the resistance of an electrochemical device.

Disclosed is an electrode assembly including two electrodes having polarities opposite to each other, and a separator interposed between the two electrodes, wherein the separator includes: a separator base which includes a porous polymer substrate having a plurality of pores, and a porous coating layer; and an adhesive layer formed on at least one surface of the separator base, provided to face either of the electrodes and containing an adhesive resin, and wherein the adhesion (Peel Strength) between the porous polymer substrate and the porous coating layer and the adhesion (Lami Strength) between the adhesive layer and the electrode satisfy Mathematical Formula 1. An electrochemical device including the separator is also disclosed. In the electrode assembly, the separator shows increased resistance against scratching and the adhesion between the separator and the electrode can be improved.
