A touch-panel liquid-crystal display device in one embodiment includes a metal line formed on a thin-film transistor array substrate, a gap column spacer and a push column spacer on a portion of a color filter array substrate that corresponds to an intersection of gate and data lines of the thin-film transistor array substrate, and a liquid-crystal layer between the thin-film transistor array substrate and the color filter array substrate. The gap column spacer and the push column spacer have the same height and the gap column spacer is located on the metal line, which facilitates an exposure process, minimizes generation of foreign substances when printing an alignment layer, and enables adjustment of the optimum amount of liquid crystals when liquid-crystal dotting is performed. The push column spacer is located on the metal line when the device can be pushed or bent by external force, and thus increases panel rigidity.

Touch-panel liquid crystal display device

A method includes: forming a gate electrode and a gate line at a pixel part of a first substrate through a first masking process; forming a gate insulation film; forming an active pattern and source/drain electrodes and forming a data line crossing the gate line through a second masking process; forming a passivation layer; forming a photosensitive film pattern including a first pattern and a second pattern through a third masking process; selectively removing a portion of the passivation layer to form a first contact hole exposing a portion of the drain electrode; removing portions of the first and second patterns to remove the second pattern and form a third pattern; removing the third pattern and a conductive film on the third pattern to form a pixel electrode electrically connected with the drain electrode via the first contact hole; and attaching the first and second substrates.

Liquid crystal display device and fabrication method thereof

An array substrate for a fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display device includes a substrate including a display region and a non-display; a gate line on the substrate and in the display region; a common pad on the substrate and in the non-display region; a gate insulating layer on the gate line and the common pad; a data line on the gate insulating layer and crossing the gate line to define a pixel region in the display region; a thin film transistor connected to the gate and data lines; a first passivation layer on the data line and the thin film transistor; a common electrode on the first passivation layer and covering an entire surface of the display region; a second passivation layer on the common electrode; and a pixel electrode on the second passivation layer and having a plate shape in each pixel region.

Array substrate for fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display device and method of fabricating the same

An array substrate for an in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display device includes: a substrate; a gate line on the substrate; first and second common lines parallel to and spaced apart from the gate line; a data line crossing the gate line to define a pixel region; a thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line; a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor, the pixel electrode having a plate shape; a plurality of common electrodes connected between the first and second common lines, the plurality of common electrodes overlapping the pixel electrode; and first and second shielding electrodes parallel to the data line, the first and second shielding electrodes spaced apart from each other with respect to the data line.

Array substrate for in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display device and method of fabricating the same

An IPS-LCD panel includes first and second substrates, and a liquid crystal interposed therebetween. The first substrate includes common and pixel electrodes that are formed of a transparent conductive material. Because the common and pixel electrodes are transparent, aperture ratios of the inventive IPS-LCD panel are increased. Another IPS-LCD panel includes opaque pixel electrodes and transparent common electrodes. In forming the opaque pixel electrodes, a black matrix of the same material as the pixel electrodes is also formed on the first substrate. Because the inventive black matrix is much smaller than a conventional one, the aperture ratios of the second inventive IPS-LCD panel become higher.

Method of fabricating liquid crystal display device

The present invention discloses a liquid crystal display device, including upper and lower substrates with a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween; a sealant between the upper and lower substrates; a plurality of source and gate pads on the lower substrate; a plurality of gate and data lines on the lower substrate, each gate line being electrically connected with the corresponding gate pad, each data line being electrically connected with the corresponding source pad; a gate insulating layer between the gate lines and the data lines; a source PCB electrically connected with the plurality of source pads; a gate PCB electrically connected with the plurality of gate pads; and a plurality of transmitting wires on the lower substrate, the transmitting wires being electrically connected with the gate and source pads across the sealant such that the source PCB is electrically connected with the gate PCB. The liquid crystal display device further includes a repair wire to repair the gate transmitting wires, and dummy patterns to protect the gate transmitting wires from a mechanical damage of a scribing and breaking force.

Liquid crystal display device implementing improved electrical lines and the fabricating method

A liquid crystal display device has stripe-shaped color filters and arranges the driver ICs on the top or the bottom side portion, and on the left or right side portion of the liquid crystal panel such that the liquid crystal display device has a single bank structure. Accordingly, a difference of a signal delay between the adjacent two odd and even data or gate lines is prevented. As a result, the brightness and the resolution are improved.

Liquid crystal display device including sub-pixels corresponding to red, green, blue and white color filters

An upper substrate of a liquid crystal display device includes a color filter and a black matrix. A lower substrate includes a gate insulating layer formed of the substrate, a data line formed on the gate insulating layer, a light shielding pattern formed on the gate insulating layer and spaced apart from the data line, a passivation film formed on the data line and the light shielding pattern, a pixel electrode formed on the passivation film and overlapping a portion of the light shielding pattern. The light shielding pattern includes two light shielding lines formed parallel to and on either side of the data line. Such an arrangement reduces a parasitic capacitance between the pixel electrode and the data line, while maintaining a high aperture ratio.

The drain electrode has a drain protrusion which is positioned over the gate electrode and the slanted corner of the gate electrode and located inside the U-shaped source electrode. The drain protrusion is spaced apart from the U-shaped source electrode to form a channel region therebetween. An imaginary axis of the U-shaped source electrode and drain protrusion forms an angle with the gate line. A pixel electrode contacts the drain electrode.

The present invention discloses a liquid crystal display device, including: a first substrate; a second substrate spaced from the first substrate, having gate lines arranged in a first direction, data lines arranged in a direction perpendicular to the gate lines, capacitor electrode lines arranged in a direction parallel to the gate lines, each of the gate lines having an electrostatic circuit located on a second end portion thereof, a first end portion of the gate lines having a pad portion, each of the capacitor electrode lines having an electrostatic circuit located on a first end portion thereof, second end portions of the capacitor electrode lines being electrically connected with each other; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrate; a gate driver being electrically connected with the gate lines through the pad portion of the gate lines; and a data drivers being electrically connected with the data lines, wherein the electrostatic circuit of the gate line electrically separates the second end portions of the gate lines from each other, and the electrostatic circuit of the capacitor electrode lines electrically separates the second end portions of the capacitor electrode lines from each other.
