Polymerizable, organic-soluble, oligomeric fluorochemical surfactant compositions having at least two pendent fluoroaliphatic groups, at least two organic-solubilizing groups, and a pendent polymerizable olefinic group. Also a method of preparing such surfactant compositions. The compositions reduce the surface energy of acrylate-containing mixtures and acrylate-based pressure-sensitive adhesives. They can be used in preparing acrylate-based pressure-sensitive adhesives that coat well due to the presence of the surfactant and maintain adhesive performance upon aging.

Polymerizable fluorochemical surfactants

A method for imparting to fibrous polyamide materials stain resistance to acid colorants is provided. The method comprises contacting the fibrous polyamide materials with an aqueous treating solution comprising polymethacrylic acid, copolymers of methacrylic acid, or combinations thereof, and drying said substrate, said polymethacrylic acid, copolymers of methacrylic acid, or combinations thereof being provided in a sufficient amount and having a solubility and molecular weight such that said fibrous polyamide substrate has an improved acid colorant stain resistance.

Process for providing polyamide materials with stain resistance

Fluorochemical surfactant compositions are provided. The compositions comprise a fluorochemical amine salt which can be represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.f is a perfluoroaliphatic radical containing 3 to 20 carbon atoms, R is H or CH.sub.3, and R.sup.1 is an alkyl radical containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms. The fluorochemical surfactant compositions are prepared by reacting at least one perfluoroalkyl sulfonyl fluoride having 3 to 20 alkyl carbon atoms, ethylene or propylene oxide, and at least one tertiary amine, (R.sup.1).sub.3 N wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and which may contain a hydroxyl group.

Fluorochemical surfactants and process for preparing same

A treated fibrous polyamide substrate having resistance to staining by acid colorants is provided. The treated substrate comprises a fibrous polyamide substrate having applied thereto (a) a partially sulfonated novolak resin and (b) polymethacrylic acid, copolymers of methacrylic acid, or combinations of said polymethacrylic acid and said copolymers of methacrylic acid.
