Disclosed are methods and systems of blocks with magnets, magnetically-attractive non-magnetic elements, and magnetic detectors. The methods and systems facilitate user attachment and detachment of the blocks to each other and detection of which face of which block is attached to which face of which other block, and in what orientation. The blocks can be comprised of multiple regular convex polyhedra, such as tetrahedrons, cubes, octahedra, dodecahedra, or icosahedra. The faces of the blocks could be equilateral triangles, squares, or regular pentagons. The methods and systems can further comprise a selection pen and system software configured to render the blocks and their attachment to each other on a display.

Three-dimensional magnetic block system and method

A system and/or method for detecting a ferromagnetic object during surgery comprises a probe tip magnetoresistance device configured for insertion into a human or animal cavity and a probe base magnetoresistance device configured for remaining outside the cavity. The system and method detect the ferromagnetic object by comparing the electrical signals generated by the probe tip and the probe base magnetoresistance devices in response to the ambient magnetic field without generating a magnetic field to detect the ferromagnetic object.

Surgical ferromagnetic object detection system and method

A locking system and method for a movable freight container door comprises an electronic module and a mechanical lock element. The mechanical lock element comprises a shaft, at least of portion of which is configured to be inserted through an aperture in the electronic module, across a door handle retention region, and into a cavity in the electronic module. The shaft is securely retained in the electronic module by moving a lock mechanism to a locked position. At least one magnetic field sensor in the electronic module is used to read the position of the shaft in the cavity by sensing or not sensing one or more magnets in the shaft. A wireless communication component in the electronic module wirelessly transmits magnetic field sensor information.

Locking system and method for a movable freight container door

A communication device, system, and method configured for retrofitting into an existing dwelling unit intercom handset in an existing hard-wired building access system can be used to convert the existing building access system to one that is internet connected for remotely unlocking a door, gate, and/or similar. The communication device can be powered by drawing a small and controlled amount of current from the source that powers the unlock coil for the existing hard-wired building access system. The communication device can be configured to receive and transmit a ringer signal over the internet. The communication device can be configured to transmit an unlock signal to the lock deactivation module of the existing hard-wire building access system in response to information received from the internet and/or the ringer signal.

Retrofitable internet-enabled access control system and method

A freight tracking system uses a tracking device hidden in the taillight of a vehicle and a remote device located somewhere else on the vehicle. The remote device determines the position of the vehicle using information received from global navigation system satellites and communicates this wirelessly to the tracking device using a mesh network. The tracking device comprises a 9-axis IMU (inertial measurement unit) that uses a fusion filter and a calculation involving digital quaternions to determine inertial information. The vehicle position is compared to geographic boundary information to determine if the vehicle might have gone outside of geographic boundaries. If so, a geofencing alarm is triggered. The device has a tampering detector to ensure that the device is not opened. The alarms, vehicle position, and time information can be communicated to an internet-connected database using a cellular wireless device.

Redundant wireless electronic motor vehicle chassis monitoring network

A motion analysis system comprises a human wearable peripheral, a human wearable communication hub, a beacon, a data analysis server, and a cloud server. The peripheral comprises an orientation sensor that comprises an accelerometer, a magnetometer, and a gyroscope. The peripheral further comprises a processor and a wireless communication module. The hub comprises a communication module that communicates with the peripheral, as well as a sensor and a second wireless communication module. The beacon comprises a sensor and a communication module that communicates with the second communication module of the hub. The data analysis server communicates with the beacon and receives information from the beacon sensor, the hub sensor, and the orientation sensor. The data analysis server further comprises an internet connection with which the data analysis server can communicate with the cloud server. The cloud server is configured to assess a risk factor in response to the orientation sensor, the hub sensor, and the beacon sensor.

Wireless motion sensor system and method

A locking system and method for a movable freight container comprises an electronic module with a shaft that goes into a cavity in a mechanical lock module. The shaft is securely retained in the cavity by a lock mechanism in the mechanical lock module by moving the lock mechanism to a locked position. A plurality of magnetic field sensors in the shaft are used to read the position of the shaft in the cavity by sensing or not sensing one or more magnets in the lock mechanism to confirm continuous time insertion of the shaft in the cavity. A wireless communication component in the electronic module wirelessly transmits an alarm signal if the magnetic field sensors detect an unexpected interruption in at least one of the continuous time shaft position magnetic sensor readings.

Locking system and method for a movable freight container

A wireless motion sensor system comprising a wearable inertial measurement unit, a wireless signal relay unit, and a data analysis server can be used in low power sensing and control applications, such as continuous monitoring and recording of motion and other parameters before, during, and after the occurrence of an unpredictable event. Data from the inertial measurement unit could be analyzed and presented on a graphical presentation unit.

A device and method for interacting with a display using an accelerometer sensitive to tilt about two perpendicular axes and a third signal having a magnitude responsive to user input. The device and method allow a user to change a characteristic of an object on the display by converting pitch information, roll information, and a linear dimension into Cartesian coordinates for use by the display.

The accelerometer or accelerometers generate a pitch signal and a roll signal. These pitch and roll signals are used to determine a position on a display.
