A method for collecting data for statistical modeling purposes can include the step of selecting at least one user interface type from a plurality of previously defined user interface types. Parameters of the selected interface type can be defined for a particular data collection instance. Target participant data can be inputted. A data collection interface based upon the selected interface type and defined parameters can be deployed. Messages can be automatically conveyed to data providers selected in accordance with the target participant data. The data providers can be permitted to access the deployed data collection interface. Data provided by the data providers can be automatically stored and used for statistical modeling purposes related to the data collection instance.

System and method for data collection interface creation and data collection administration

A method of changing the states of multiple Boolean state items displayed in a computer system user interface window draws a box around a plurality of Boolean state items displayed in the window. Each of the items displayed in the window initial state, which is either of the two Boolean states. In response to drawing the box, the method changes the initial state of at least some of the items within the box to a final state, which is the opposite Boolean state. The change of state may be according to a default behavior. The user may change the default behavior.

Changing multiple boolean state items in a user interface

A method of speech synthesis can include automatically identifying spoken passages and non-spoken passages within a text source and converting the text source to speech by applying different voice configurations to different portions of text within the text source according to whether each portion of text was identified as a spoken passage or a non-spoken passage. The method further can include identifying the speaker and/or the gender of the speaker and applying different voice configurations according to the speaker identity and/or speaker gender.

A method of removing bias from an action classifier within a natural language understanding system can include identifying a sentence having a target embedded grammar that overlaps with at least one other embedded grammar and selecting a group of overlapping embedded grammars including the target embedded grammar and at least one additional embedded grammar. A sentence expansion can be created that includes the sentence including the target embedded grammar and a copy of the sentence for each additional embedded grammar of the group. Each copy of the sentence can include a different additional embedded grammar from the group in place of the target embedded grammar. The sentence expansion can be included within action classifier training data.
