A novel high tensile strength semi-absorbable composite suture with minimized non-absorbable mass. The suture has a core made from a bioabsorbable polymer. The core is covered by a braided sheath. The braided sheath is made from an absorbable yarn and a bioabsorbable yarn. The bioabsorbable yarn is made from a least one filament of a bioabsorbable polymer. The nonabsorbable yarn is made from at least one filament of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene.

High strength suture with absorbable core and suture anchor combination

An implantable prosthesis for repairing or reinforcing a tissue or muscle wall defect including a first composite structure including at least one layer of a non-absorbable material, wherein the first composite structure has a central portion sized and shaped to cover at least a portion of the tissue or muscle wall defect, and has an outer periphery. The prosthesis further includes a second structure having a reinforced central region and an outer peripheral edge, a reinforcing element positioned between the first and second structures, and having an outer periphery and a stiffness greater than that of the first and second structures, and at least one pulling element coupled to the reinforced central region of the second structure. The second structure is coupled to the first structure substantially only at their respective peripheries.

Implantable repair device

A method of repairing a hernia using a hernia mesh support device includes providing a hernia mesh support device, reducing a hernia within a patient's abdomen, inserting the hernia mesh support device into the abdomen and positioning the device in alignment with the hernia, ensuring that no abdominal organs are present between the device and the abdominal wall, whereby the step of ensuring that no abdominal organ is between the device and the abdominal wall includes the step of digitally sweeping the space between the abdominal wall and the device, removing a protective cover, and pulling on a pull strap joined to an inner ring to place the device tightly against the abdominal wall and to anchor barbed pins and hollow needles into the abdominal wall.

Methods of repairing a hernia using a hernia support device

Methods for defatting omentum and processes for preparing an acellular omentum, i.e., devitalized or decellularized omentum, comprising extracellular matrix for implantation into a mammalian system. Constructs for medical applications comprising decellularized omentum are also described. More specifically, mesh reinforced omentum biomatrix for soft tissue repair is described.

Decellularized omentum matrix and uses thereof

A hernia mesh support device includes an outer ring, an inner ring and a plurality of ring support members extending between and interconnected to the outer ring and inner ring. On a first axial side of the outer ring and inner ring is situated a layer of mesh material. On a second axial side of the outer ring and inner ring is situated an anti-adhesion barrier. A plurality of barbed pins or hollow needles extend from the first axial side of the outer ring. A removable protective cover covers the plurality of barbed pins or hollow needles.

Hernia mesh support device

A substantially flat implant for repositioning a patient's eyebrow that may allow for a gradient lift across the eyebrow. The implant may be geometrically non-symmetrical, and/or may have non-symmetric physical properties. The implant may include a foot portion that extends along a first longitudinal axis and has a length, and a vertical strip portion that extends outwardly from the foot portion along a second longitudinal axis. The strip portion has a length and a width that is smaller than the length of the foot. The second longitudinal axis is offset from the center of the length of the foot portion.

Brow lift implant and method

An electrode device adapted for use in medical devices, such as tissue ablation apparatus, includes a sheet of flexible fabric including at least one surface electrode formed as part of the fabric. More particularly, the sheet is made from a plurality of filaments. At least some of the filaments are made at least partially from an electrically conductive material and cooperate so as to form the electrode. The filaments are formed into a plurality of yarns which are interwoven to form the sheet.
