A method and system for detecting a limit of use of a medical device is disclosed. The method includes starting a timer of a medical device when said medical device is used for the first time, detecting the limit of use of the medical device and indicating the limit of use of the medical device. The limit of use is reached when at least one of a first criterion and a second criterion is met, wherein the first criterion is that the timer reaches or exceeds a time limit and wherein the second criterion is that at least one operation of a drive train of said medical device reaches or exceeds a limit.

The technical problem of the present invention to provide a medical device, which exhibits an increased safety of the device and facilitates a safe use is solved by medical device for delivering at least one drug agent, comprising a sensor, a control unit and an attachable dispense assembly, wherein the sensor is configured to detect attachment of the dispense assembly to the medical device, wherein the control unit is configured to determine at least based on a signal from the sensor whether the end of life of the dispense assembly is reached and wherein the medical device is configured to indicate the end of life of the dispense assembly. The technical problem is further solved by a method according to the invention.

Limiting life time of dispense assembly

A method and system for detecting a limit of use of a medical device is disclosed. The method includes starting a timer of a medical device when the medical device is used for the first time, detecting the limit of use of the medical device and indicating the limit of use of the medical device. The limit of use is reached when at least one of a first criterion and a second criterion is met, wherein the first criterion is that the timer reaches or exceeds a time limit and wherein the second criterion is that at least one operation of a drive train of said medical device reaches or exceeds a limit.

An apparatus for automatic ejection of a fluid includes a drive train for automatically ejecting the fluid from a fluid reservoir through an ejection channel, and a control unit for controlling the apparatus. The control unit is configured to detect failures of drive train actuation steps, during which the drive train is actuated for priming or fluid dose ejection. The control unit is further configured to control the apparatus as a function of an actuation step failure number. The actuation step failure number is the number of failed drive train actuation steps since the last successful drive train actuation step.

A medicament delivery device is shown for the administration of one or more drug agents. The device has a priming mode and a drug delivery mode for administering delivery of the one or more drug agents. The device comprises a controller configured to set the device in a priming mode when one or more predetermined states of the device are identified and to disable the drug delivery mode during said predetermined state(s). When states of the device are different from said predetermined states, the controller can set the device in the drug delivery mode. A priming mode may still be enabled through a user interface.

A dispense interface for use with a drug delivery device. The dispense interface comprises a main outer body and an inner body. The inner body may be configured for connection to a drug delivery device and defines a first reservoir and a second reservoir. A first piercing needle is in fluid communication with the first reservoir and positioned for piercing a first cartridge of a drug delivery device. A second piercing needle is provided and in fluid communication with the second reservoir and positioned for piercing a second cartridge contained with a drug delivery device. A manifold is positioned adjacent the inner body and comprises a fluid groove arrangement. A valve arrangement is positioned between the inner body and the manifold and controls fluid communication of a first fluid contained in the first cartridge and a second fluid contained in the second cartridge by way of the fluid groove arrangement to a holding chamber. The dispense interface may further comprise a lockout preventing dispense interface reuse.

Dispense interface for use with a drug delivery device for delivery of two or more drug agents

The invention is related to an apparatus comprising a dispense interface for use with a drug delivery device, the dispense interface comprising a lockout element being arranged at least partially between an outer body of the dispense interface and an inner body of the dispense interface and wherein the lockout element is configured to be removeably maintained in a first position, such that when the dispense interface is first attached and then removed from said drug delivery device, the lockout element moves into a second position, wherein the lockout element in the second position is configured to prevent said dispense interface from being reattached to a drug delivery device.

The invention provides a dispense interface for an ejection device comprising a first part and a second part, at least a first opening, a second opening and a third opening, a fluidic channel and a connection element for each of the openings, wherein the first part is joined to said second part to form at least a part of said fluidic channel connecting said openings with each other and wherein each connection element is configured to accept a needle assembly for a fluid tight connection with said corresponding opening in order to reduce the complexity and provide an easy usage of the dispense interface and at the same time overcome the problems of material compatibility and cross contamination. The invention also relates to a system comprising a dispense interface according to the invention and a needle assembly for each opening. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for preparing a dispense interface according to the invention.

A method for detecting a limit of use of a medical device is presented having the steps of starting a timer of a medical device when the medical device is used for the first time, detecting the limit of use of the medical device and indicating the limit of use of the medical device. The invention faces the technical problem of reducing the uncertainty over exact doses ejected from a medical device and at the same time providing a homogeneous, but controlled mixture of at least two fluids while a simple production should be maintained. A medical device comprising a first valve, a second valve, a first pre-valve ullage, a second pre-valve ullage, a post-valve ullage with a first end and a second end and a needle is presented. The first pre-valve ullage is connected to the post-valve ullage by the first valve and the second pre-valve ullage is connected to the post-valve ullage by the second valve. A first fluid is guidable from the first pre-valve ullage to the post-valve ullage and a second fluid is guidable from the second pre-valve ullage to the post-valve ullage.

The invention relates to a dispense interface for use with a drug delivery device with an inner body and with a lockout element, wherein the lockout element is coupled to the inner body, wherein the lockout element is movable from a receptive condition to a locked condition, wherein in the receptive condition the dispense interface is attachable to the drug delivery device, wherein in the locked condition the dispense interface is not-attachable to the drug delivery device and wherein the lockout element is configured to move from the receptive condition to the locked condition when said dispense interface is attached to and detached from said drug delivery device. The invention solves the technical problem of reducing the risk of reuse of a dispense interface, after it has already been used with a drug delivery device.

The invention relates to a method for delivering at least one fluid medicament from a medical device. The invention also relates to a medical device. The technical problem of improving the dose accuracy is solved by a method for delivering at least one fluid medicament from a medical device comprising a first reservoir containing a first fluid medicament, a second reservoir containing a fluid, and a fluid element connected to said first reservoir and said second reservoir. The method comprises receiving information about a desired dose of the first fluid medicament to be ejected, adjusting said dose to be ejected from said first reservoir based at least in part on information about a content of said fluid element, and ejecting said adjusted dose from said first reservoir through said fluid element. The technical problem is further solved by a medical device configured to work according to the method.

The invention resides in a hand-held medicament delivery device which comprises a housing containing a first electrical circuit and a battery, a medicament delivery mechanism, and a protective cap releasably securable to the housing. The housing also includes a contactless switch and the cap a switch actuator. The switch is operable between an on state in which the first electrical circuit is connected to the battery and an off state in which the first electrical circuit is disconnected from the battery. The invention also resides in a method of controlling power in a hand held medicament delivery device comprising the steps of actuating a contactless switch in the housing by an actuator in a housing cap when the switch and actuator are in proximity, the actuation of the switch signalling to a microprocessor that the cap is on the housing, detecting the status of the device by the microprocessor, and only if the microprocessor determines the device is inactive, powering down the device.
