During a first portion (A) of an active time () of discontinuous reception (DRX) operation, a wireless device () monitors a control channel () using a first control channel monitoring configuration (-). During the active time (), though, the wireless device () switches from the first control channel monitoring configuration (-) to a second control channel monitoring configuration (-N). This switching may be triggered by occurrence of an event. During a second portion (OB) of the active time () occurring subsequent to the first portion (A) and after this switching, then, the wireless device () monitors the control channel () using the second control channel monitoring configuration (-N). The first portion (A) of the active time () and the second portion (OB) of the active time () may be included in the same DRX cycle.

Control channel monitoring in a wireless communication system

A method performed by a wireless device operating in a wireless communications network. The wireless device determines information to apply in the wireless device. The information is to receive one or more reference signals (RSs) while the wireless device is in inactive or idle state. The RSs are to be used to perform one or more tasks. The determining is based on one or more criteria. The criteria include a criterion of power consumption, and a target level of accuracy to be achieved in a performance of the tasks. The information includes: a pattern of reception of the RSs, and a configuration of a receiver. The information includes a bandwidth of reception of the RSs. The wireless device receives the RSs based on the determined information. The receiving of the RSs is performed while the wireless device is in inactive or idle state.

Wireless device, and methods performed thereby, for handling reception of one or more reference signals

Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for minimum scheduling offset interpretation. In one embodiment, the network node is configured receive an indication of a first preferred value for a minimum scheduling offset for a first bandwidth part, BWP, having a first subcarrier spacing, SCS, and a second preferred value for a minimum scheduling offset for a second bandwidth part, BWP, having a second subcarrier spacing, SCS; determine a minimum scheduling offset parameter for at least one of the first BWP having the first SCS and the second BWP having the second SCS based at least in part on at least one of the first preferred value and the second preferred value; and configure the wireless device with the determined minimum scheduling offset parameter. In another embodiment, a wireless device is configured to indicate the first and second preferred values.

Configuration of minimum scheduling offsets

An access node () configures a User Equipment, UE (), with a power saving monitoring pattern, and subsequently transmits a power saving signal configured to switch the UE () from monitoring a downlink in accordance with a connected mode discontinuous reception, C-DRX, monitoring pattern to monitoring the downlink in accordance with the power saving monitoring pattern. For each of the monitoring patterns, monitoring the downlink in accordance with the monitoring pattern comprises monitoring the downlink only when a monitoring opportunity of the monitoring pattern is concurrent with a scheduled active interval of a C-DRX configuration of the UE (). For any C-DRX cycle of the C-DRX configuration, the monitoring of the downlink in accordance with the power saving monitoring pattern has a shorter monitoring duration than the monitoring of the downlink in accordance with the C-DRX monitoring pattern. The UE () correspondingly receives the power saving signal and switches how it monitors the downlink accordingly.

Reducing power consumption of a user equipment configured for discontinuous reception

A method, system, network node and wireless device are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, A network node configured to communicate with a wireless device is provided. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to: determine a short DRX configuration based at least on a delay value constraint associated with the wireless device, and transmit an indication of the short DRX configuration and a long DRX configuration where the short DRX configuration corresponds to a shorter cycle length than a cycle length of the long DRX configuration.

Adaptation of active-time PDCCH monitoring using short discontinuous reception (DRX)

Methods and apparatus are described for adapting wake-up signal monitoring to optimize power saving performance. In one embodiment, a UE can be configured to selectively skip WUS monitoring based on a current UE context. In another embodiment, WUS/PDCCH monitoring and/or other UE procedure can be adapted based on a statistic related to the wake-up signals transmitted by the base station to the UE.

According to certain embodiments, a wireless device is configured to operate in a regular-power mode and a low-power mode, and a method of detecting wireless device movement includes: performing a link characterization measurement in the low-power mode using a low-power radio; determining, based on the low-power radio link characterization measurement, that the wireless device is not stationary; and performing radio resource measurements in the regular-power mode. In particular embodiments, performing the link characterization measurement using the low-power radio includes measuring a stationary reference signal (e.g., secondary synchronization signal (SSS)). Measuring the stationary reference signal uses a time-domain correlation receiver on the stationary reference signal.

Embodiments include methods, performed by a user equipment (UE), for communication with a network node in a radio access network (RAN). Such methods include receiving, from the network node, an indication that a minimum scheduling offset, between a scheduling physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and a signal or channel scheduled via the scheduling PDCCH, will change after a first duration. Such methods also include subsequently monitoring, during the first duration, for a scheduling PDCCH based on a first operating configuration; and in response to the end of the first duration, monitoring for a scheduling PDCCH based on a second operating configuration. The first duration can be related to time required, by the UE, to switch from the first to the second operating configuration. Embodiments also include UEs configured to perform such methods.

Selective cross-slot scheduling for NR user equipment

The present disclosure provides a method performed by a network node in a radio access network (RAN) for selective paging of a plurality of user equipments (UEs) operating in a cell served by the network node. The method comprises assigning the plurality of UEs to a plurality of paging subgroups based on one or more operating parameters of the respective UEs, wherein the paging subgroups are associated with a first sequence of paging occasions (POs) to which all of the UEs are assigned. The method comprises transmitting a paging indicator during a particular PO of the first sequence. The paging indicator indicates which of the paging subgroups associated with the particular PO should receive a paging message from the network node. The method further comprises transmitting the paging message within the cell.
