A transfer station for transferring a medical fluid between at least one supply container and at least one administration container of an infusion device is described. In an embodiment, the transfer station comprises at least one supply port configured for fluidic connection of the at least one supply container to the transfer station, and at least one exit port configured for fluidic connection of the at least one administration container to the transfer station. A transfer mechanism for automatically transferring a predetermined amount of medical fluid from the at least one supply container to the at least one administration container, and an electronic processing unit connected to an actuation means are provided with the transfer station. A processing unit controls the transfer mechanism and fluid transfer conditions according to a predetermined transfer demand entered by the actuation means.

Automatic device for transferring fluid

Disclosed is an ambulatory therapeutic fluid delivery device. The device includes at least one housing connectable to a cannula, the at least one housing retaining a reservoir to hold the therapeutic fluid. The device also includes a mechanically powered pumping mechanism to cause delivery of at least some of the fluid from the reservoir, and a power-transfer mechanism to transfer manually-delivered power provided by a user to mechanically actuate the pumping mechanism.

Device for drug delivery

A cradle and methods of using embodiments of the cradle are described. The cradle has a proximal side and a distal side, where the proximal side has a skin attachment member for releasable attachment to a patient's skin. The distal side includes a device attachment member configured to attach an initially separate medical device. The cradle comprises an electronically controlled optical indication device, the electronically controlled optical indication device being configured to provide optical indications to the patient when the cradle is attached to the patient's skin.

A therapeutic system in an exemplary embodiment comprises a fluid delivery device having a fluid reservoir, an outlet port with a lumen for outputting fluid from the reservoir, a pump for pumping the fluid through the lumen and a controller for controlling the therapeutic system. The therapeutic system may also comprise an adaptor for an infusion set, the adaptor having a plug operable for attaching to the outlet port, and wherein the adaptor has an adaptor septum operable for being pierced by the lumen when attached to the outlet port. The therapeutic system comprises an infusion set recognition system, wherein the controller is operable to query the infusion set recognition system for infusion set data, wherein the infusion set data comprises an infusion set type, wherein the controller is operable to operate the pump to provide a basal dosage of the fluid if the infusion set type is not recognized.

An insertion apparatus and a method for use with a device for delivery of a therapeutic fluid into a body of a patient and/or for sensing of a bodily analyte are disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing adapted for loading therein at least one cannula cartridge unit having a protective member. The protective member accommodates at least one penetrating cartridge having a subcutaneously insertable element and a penetrating member. The apparatus includes a displacement mechanism capable of protracting the penetrating cartridge towards the body of the patient, where protraction of the penetrating cartridge results in insertion of the subcutaneously insertable element into the body of the patient.

Insertion device

Products and methods directed to the improved infusion of fluids are disclosed. Such products and methods can be used to more efficiently and efficaciously administer therapeutic pharmaceuticals to a subject in need of treatment. In many instances, the systems comprise a therapeutic fluid delivery system and a mechanism for enhancing the absorption of the therapeutic fluid. The enhancement of the absorption of the therapeutic fluid is generally performed locally i.e., at or near the site of administration of the therapeutic fluid. The system and methods can be used to deliver any number of therapeutic fluids including but not limited to insulin.

An inserter and methods of using embodiments of the inserter are described. The inserter includes a housing having a cannula assembly and an insertion mechanism. Two buttons are located on the inserter and are concomitantly actionable for actuation of the insertion mechanism, wherein the insertion mechanism is configured to place a cannula assembly in a well that is disposed on the cradle. The inserter also includes a first parts and second part, whereby the first part includes a handle and the second part comprises the entire insertion mechanism, whereby the first and second part are connected via an indentation.

In some embodiments, the device includes a monitoring apparatus, a pump, and a tip for delivering the therapeutic fluid into the body of the patient and for monitoring bodily analyte in the body of the patient. The pump may continuously deliver the therapeutic fluid to the body of the patient and the monitoring apparatus may continuously monitor bodily analytes of the patient.

For example, an insulin infusion apparatus can include a control module to regulate a rate of therapeutic fluid release into a body of a patient based on a determined therapeutic fluid requirement profile, and a dispensing unit to release therapeutic fluid at the regulated rate. The methods and devices can be implemented by receiving a first value corresponding to a first glucose concentration before an exercise activity of a user; receiving a second value corresponding to a second glucose concentration after the exercise activity for the user; determining a glucose concentration change based on a difference between the second value and the first value; modifying a basal rate based on a comparison of the glucose concentration change with a predetermined threshold value; and, recording the modified basal rate in a computer-readable memory device.

Maintaining glycemic control during exercise

A method and an apparatus for delivery of a therapeutic fluid to the body of a patient are provided. The apparatus includes a dispensing unit having a driving mechanism and a pumping mechanism for pumping the fluid to the body of the patient and a collapsible reservoir fillable with the therapeutic fluid for delivery thereof to the body of the patient.

Disclosed is an assembly for use with a portable therapeutic device. The assembly includes a mounting housing securable to skin of a patient, and a cannula subcutaneously insertable through a passageway provided within the housing. Device and method for facilitating infusion of therapeutic fluids and sensing of bodily analytes

Disclosed is a portable ambulatory fluid delivery device. The device includes a dispensing unit to dispense therapeutic fluid, the dispensing unit including one or more rechargeable batteries, a housing to retain the one or more rechargeable batteries, a reservoir to contain the therapeutic fluid, a driving mechanism to cause delivery of the therapeutic fluid from the reservoir to a user's body, and at least one electrical connector to be coupled to a recharging unit to direct electrical power received from the recharging unit to recharge the one or more rechargeable batteries. At least a portion of the housing is securable to a skin of the user.

Infusion and sensing device with battery charging and data transferring mechanisms

Systems, methods and devices are described herein for adjusting the insertion depth of a cannula associated with a portable therapeutic device within the body of a patient. The systems may include a mounting unit securable to the skin of the patient and having a mounting base and a well defining a passageway through the mounting base and a cannula unit including a cannula subcutaneously insertable through the well of the mounting unit. The well may have an adjustable height and/or adjustable anchoring mechanisms that allow for varying and customized insertion depths of the cannula within the body of the patient.
