We disclose a system and method for estimating values of hemodynamic parameters of a subject, by calibrating arterial pressure during one time and tracking arterial pressure at another time.

Continuous blood pressure measurement

A method includes processing error correction encoded data by a first processing chain of a transmitter. The processing includes interleaving a first portion of the error correction encoded data with respect to a first interleaving period to generate a first output signal. Interleaving the first portion includes de-multiplexing the first portion among multiple branches having respective delays in accordance with a distribution order and re-multiplexing delayed data from the branches to form the first output signal. The method includes processing the error correction encoded data by a second processing chain of the transmitter without use of interleaving to generate a second output signal. The method includes multiplexing the first output signal and the second output signal into a multiplexed stream. The method also includes transmitting the multiplexed stream from the transmitter over a communication channel to a receiver.

Broadcasting of digital video to mobile terminals

This invention provides conformal antenna structures, how to make and use the antenna structures, and systems in which the antenna structures may be used for biometric sensing of humans and other animals. The antenna structures of the invention includes at least one relatively flexible section connecting relatively rigid sections. The relatively flexible section connecting relatively rigid sections may flex so that the relatively rigid sections connected to the relatively flexible section can change orientation relative to one another. This allows the relatively rigid sections to be conformed to a region of a surface of a human or animal that is not flat (that is curved).

Systems, apparatuses and methods for biometric sensing using conformal flexible antenna

A method for communication includes encoding data using at least one Error Correction Code (ECC) to generate first and second output data streams. The first output data stream is processed to generate a first output signal, which has a first acquisition time. The second output data stream is processed to generate a second output signal, which has a second acquisition time that is smaller than the first acquisition time. The first and second output signals are transmitted simultaneously over a communication channel.

A heart-rate sensor for detecting artery blood-flow volume per unit length change in a human or animal subject, which comprises an antenna for sensing the instantaneous volume of blood in the artery of the subject, to be measured; a RADAR unit for transmitting microwave signals into a subject's body part or limb representing tissue targets. The output of the RADAR unit includes a superposition of signals each of which corresponding to a different tissue target with amplitudes that relate to the target's reflection strength; a sampling circuitry for converting reflected signals to digital; a window function circuitry for suppressing unwanted spectral sidebands originating from the subsequent processor operating on time truncated data; an FFT processor following the window function circuitry, for splitting the superposition according to its relative frequency into a multiplicity of bins, each of which with an amplitude that represents the reflection magnitude of a target at a specific distance from the antenna; a signal processor for filtering out the effect of the sensor movement with respect to the subject body part, or the movement of the body part, and for generating a signal, the amplitude of which is proportional to the artery varying dilatation representing the heart-rate; a heart-rate estimator for measuring the frequency of the artery dilatation variations and for canceling the interference of the amplitude of any signal that does not originate from the artery; a battery for powering the sensor.

Microwave contactless heart rate sensor

A signal processing device includes a device package, processing circuitry and biasing circuitry. The processing circuitry is packaged in the device package and is operative to receive one or more Radio Frequency (RF) input signals from one or more antenna elements via one or more pre-amplifiers that are separate from the device, and to process the RF input signals so as to produce an RF output signal. The biasing circuitry is packaged in the device package and is operative to produce one or more biasing signals for biasing the pre-amplifiers.

Analog signal processing device for phased array antennas

A method for communication includes transmitting first and second copies of a signal toward first and second satellite transponders, respectively, so as to cause the first and second satellite transponders to transmit respective first and second downlink signals with mutually-orthogonal linear polarizations toward a coverage region. A correction is applied to at least one of the first and second copies before transmitting the first and second copies. The correction is selected so as to remove a frequency offset between the first and second downlink signals and cause the first and second downlink signals to have a constant phase offset in at least some of the coverage region.

Signal power summation using satellite transponders having orthogonal polarizations

A system for utilizing circular polarized signals to perform satellite communication to mobile users. The satellite includes transponders, each transponder providing linearly polarized signals and at least two orthogonal linear polarized transponders. A plurality of mobile users with a circularly polarized antenna for receiving signals from the satellite, and singly circular or linear polarized transmit antennas for transmitting signals to the satellite. Circuits for providing a correction scheme implemented in a hub side to offset frequency error between two channels produced by the satellite transponder local oscillators mismatch.

Reduced cost mobile satellite antenna system using a plurality of satellite transponders

Briefly, a transmitter that includes first and second fractional N synthesizers that may generate outphased modulated signals. First and second sigma-delta modulators may control the modulation of the first and second fractional N synthesizers.

Transmitter

A filter includes an input and an output. First and second filter stages having respective stage inputs and stage outputs are connected in cascade between the input and the output. Each filter stage includes an amplifier having an amplifier input and an amplifier output and an inner feedback loop connecting the amplifier output to the amplifier input. An outer feedback loop connects the stage output of the second filter stage with the stage input of the first filter stage. The first and second filter stages and the outer feedback loop are arranged so that an s-space closed-loop transfer function of the filter includes two zeros and a single pole.

Balanced band-pass filter for radio receivers

A source binary code that complies with a source architecture is translated to a target binary code that complies with a target architecture. The target binary code includes a first target portion translated from a respective source portion of the source binary code. During execution of the target binary code on a processor that complies with a target architecture, it is determined whether to retranslate the source portion to produce a second target portion that is more optimized to the target architecture than the first target portion or to retranslate the source portion to produce a third target portion that is more optimized to the target architecture than the second target portion.

Automatic level control

A method for communication in a sequence of frames includes assigning a respective time slot to each of a plurality of mobile units, while reserving an unassigned time slot. During a first frame, one of the mobile units transmits an uplink signal in the respective time slot, carrying first uplink data over the air to a base station. The base station transmits a downlink signal to the mobile unit indicating that retransmission of the first uplink data is required. Responsively to the downlink signal, during a second frame subsequent to the first frame, the mobile unit transmits the uplink signal both in the respective time slot and in the reserved time slot so as to carry the first uplink data and second uplink data over the air to the base station. A similar method may be used for downlink retransmission.

Multiplex communication with slotted retransmission on demand

Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a multi-mode receiver comprises a programmable baseband module to filter a modulated signal according to the characteristics of the receiving mode. The programmable baseband module may further comprise a programmable convolver capable of switching between the receiving modes of the multi-mode receiver by programming an impulse response of a filter to the programmable convolver.
