A method of enclosing a surgical item identification tag in a fluorinated shrink wrap, including cutting one or more elongated pieces from a shrink wrap tube to form cut shrink wrap pieces, placing cut shrink wrap pieces into cavities in a tray, inserting an identification tag into each of the cut shrink wrap pieces, heating the cut shrink wrap pieces to cause the cut shrink wrap pieces to shrink and wrap around the identification tag, sealing an upper end and lower end of the cut shrink wrap pieces.

Tailoring identification tags to enhance suitability to organization assets

A system for monitoring and tracking location of a tag paired to a tool is disclosed, the system comprising a communication unit to receive flag event data, the flag event data relating to a detected event, the flag event data including at least tag identification data, location data of the tag, detected event type, and time of occurrence of the detected event. The system comprises a storage unit to store data records of tags, the data records comprising a current tag location and data relating to the tool which is paired to the tag, and to store a set of instructions defined for handling flag event data. The system comprises a processing unit to receive flag event data, and to transmit a notification of the flag event data to other connected devices according to the stored set of instructions for handling the flag event data. The processing unit may be configured to identify a monitoring station located at a current location of the tool paired to the tag, and to transmit a notification related to the flag event data to the identified monitoring station.

System and method for tracking and monitoring surgical tools

An interchangeable tag for attaching to an item for automatically identifying the item, including: a base with a small footprint for attaching to the item at a first end of the base; an identification head with a larger footprint that is attached to the item by the base at a second end of the base; wherein the identification head wirelessly accepts communication queries and transmits identification information related to the item; and wherein the base is attached to the tool by a technological process that requires use of an attachment tool by a skilled user and the identification head is attached to the base after attaching it to the item by a simple process that is performed without requiring an attachment tool.

Interchangeable tag and attachment

A system for associating processed items with process logs, including a server computer for tracking the items and a tag reader positioned in the vicinity of a device for processing the items; wherein the items are marked with a tag that is readable with a tag reader; wherein the device produces a process log listing a commencement time of the process, a type of process performed and an indication if the process completed successfully; wherein the tag reader records identity information of the items inserted and/or removed from the device for processing; and wherein the process log and identity information are provided to the server computer to associate the processes recorded in the process log with the processed items to form tracking information for an item.
