A cathode ray tube includes a panel having a front screen portion on which a phosphor screen is formed and a panel flange integrally formed on an edge of the front screen portion, a funnel connected to the panel flange, a deflection yoke disposed around the funnel, a neck connected to the funnel, an electron gun disposed in the neck, a color selection apparatus for selecting electron beams emitted from the electron gun and allowing the selected electron beams to land on corresponding phosphors, and an inner shield for shielding geomagnetism, the inner shield mounted on the color selection apparatus. The color selection apparatus includes a mask having a plurality of electron beam-passing apertures, the mask being rectangular and having a longitudinal axis and a lateral axis, a frame for supporting the mask in a tensioned state, and a pair of side shield members mounted on lateral sides of the frame to shield the geomagnetism.

A tension mask frame assembly for a color cathode-ray tube includes a frame including first and second support members, and at least a pair of elastic members supporting the first and second support members, both end portions of each of the elastic members are secured to the first and second support members, a tension mask including a plurality of strips and forming slits, a plurality of tie bars disposed between the strips and connecting neighboring strips to divide slits, where longer side portions perpendicular to a lengthwise direction of the strips are secured to the first and second support members, and vibration prevention members having both end portions supported at the first and second support members, having a predetermined tensile force, and being in contact with shorter side portions of the tension mask in a direction parallel to the strips of the tension mask.

Tension mask frame assembly for color CRT

A tension mask frame assembly for a color cathode-ray tube, including a tension mask, a frame and a vibration prevention unit, is provided. In this tension mask frame assembly, the tension mask has a slotted portion in which a plurality of electron beam passing holes are formed and a non-slotted portion located on the edge of the slotted portion. The frame supports two facing sides of the tension mask to apply a tensile force to the tension mask. The vibration prevention unit includes a damper having first and second attenuation portions that are maintained at a predetermined angle to form an insertion portion into which the edges of the tension mask not supported by the frame are inserted, and a support member for suspending the damper from the edges of the tension mask by passing through the first and second attenuation portions and the edges of the tension mask inserted into the insertion portion formed by the first and second attenuation portions.
