A display substrate includes a first switching element electrically connected to a gate line and that extends in a first direction and electrically connected to a data line that extends in a second direction crossing the first direction, an insulation layer disposed on the first switching element, a shielding electrode disposed on the insulation layer and a pixel electrode that partially overlap the shielding electrode. The shielding electrode includes a first portion that overlaps the data line and extends in the second direction and a second portion that overlaps the gate line and extends in the first direction.

Display substrate and method of manufacturing the same

A display panel includes a high pixel electrode including a first stem which extends substantially in a first direction, and a second stem which extends substantially in a second direction crossing the first direction, a low pixel electrode including a first stem which extends substantially in the first direction, and a second stem which extends substantially in the second direction, a data line which extends in the second direction, a high storage line which extends substantially in the second direction and overlaps the second stem of the high pixel electrode, and a low storage line which extends substantially in the second direction and overlaps the second stem of the low pixel electrode.

Display panel and method of manufacturing the same

A display device includes a first substrate comprising a pixel area a first pixel electrode on the pixel area and a second pixel electrode overlapping the first pixel electrode; a second substrate including a common electrode and facing the first substrate; and a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first pixel electrode includes first and second sides parallel to a side of the pixel area; third and fourth sides respectively extending from first ends of the first and second sides, inclined with respect to the first and second sides and parallel to each other; and fifth and sixth sides parallel to each other, and connecting the second and first sides with the third and fourth sides, respectively. An acute angle between each of the third to sixth sides, with respect to the first and second sides, exceeds about 135 degrees.

Display device

A display panel includes a gate line, a first data line crossing the gate line, a first voltage applied to the first data line, a second data line in parallel with the first data line and spaced apart from the first data line, a second voltage different from the first voltage applied to the second data line, a first thin film transistor electrically connected to the first data line, a second thin film transistor electrically connected to the second data line, a first pixel electrode electrically connected to the first thin film transistor, and disposed between the first data line and the second data line, and a second pixel electrode electrically connected to the second thin film transistor, and disposed opposite to the first pixel electrode with reference to the second data line.

A display apparatus includes a display panel comprising a plurality of gate lines extending in a first diagonal direction of a display area, and a plurality of vertical lines extending in a vertical direction, the gate lines comprising a plurality of first gate lines disposed in a first sub-area of the display area, a plurality of second gate lines disposed in a second sub-area of the display area, a plurality of third gate lines disposed in a third sub-area of the display area, the third gate lines respectively connected to the vertical lines, and a gate driver disposed in the first peripheral area in which the data driver is disposed and configured to provide at least one of the first, second and third sub-areas with a gate signal different from a reference gate signal.

Display apparatus

A display apparatus includes a display panel including a driving part arranged along one side of the display panel, the display panel including a plurality of first gate lines that zigzag across the display in a diagonal direction between the first and second directions by alternately extending in the first and the second directions. The display device includes a first display area and a second display area, pixels within the first display area always receiving gate signals from a driving part connected to an end of the first gate lines. Within the second display area, a second gate lines extending in the first direction may be electrically connected to the first gate lines that relay gate signals to the first gate lines. This results in a reduced peripheral area of the display area, so that many displays can be combined together to produce a single image.

Display with gate lines in a diagonal direction

A display panel includes a plurality of pixels which is arranged in a pixel column and a pixel row, a gate line which is connected to pixels in a same pixel row, a first data line which is connected to pixels in a same pixel column, and a second data line which is connected to remaining pixels except for the pixels connected to the first data line among the pixels in the same pixel column. Two odd-numbered pixel rows and two even-numbered pixel rows are alternately driven so that a charge period of the pixel may be extended by 2H. In addition, a kickback difference between the odd-numbered pixel row and the even-numbered pixel row may be decreased so that a display quality may be improved.

Display panel and display apparatus having the same

An organic light emitting diode display device includes a display panel and a power supply. The power supply applies a first power supply voltage and a second power supply voltage to a first power supply voltage line. The first power supply voltage line includes a first extension, a second extension, and third extension. The first extension is disposed along a first direction from the first side portion to the second side portion. The first extension has a width that gradually decreases along the first direction. The second extension is disposed along a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction. The third extension is disposed along a third direction that is opposite to the first direction. The third extension has a width that gradually decreases along the third direction.

Organic light emitting diode display device

An electric-field exposure method includes forming a display cell. The display cell comprises a pixel electrode electrically connected to a data line and a gate line. A guard-ring line surrounds a display area on which the pixel electrode is disposed. A common electrode overlaps the guard-ring line. A resistance division part is connected to a node which is connected to a data pad and a gate pad. A first electrode and a second electrode are provided with first and second electronic signals, respectively. The first electrode is connected to the guard-ring line. The second electrode is electrically connected to the common electrode. The node is provided with a divided signal obtained by dividing the first and second signals through the resistance division part.

Electric-field exposure method and display panel manufactured by the electric-field exposure method

A display panel includes a gate line which extends substantially in a first direction, a first data line which extends substantially in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction, a second data line spaced apart from the first data line in the first direction and which extends substantially in the second direction, a high pixel electrode disposed between the first data line and the second data line and disposed adjacent to the gate line, a low pixel electrode disposed between the first data line and the second data line and disposed opposite to the high pixel electrode with reference to the gate line, a high storage line which extends substantially in the second direction and overlaps the high pixel electrode, and a low storage line which extends substantially in the second direction and overlaps the low pixel electrode.

A display apparatus includes a display panel, a gate driving part, and a date driving part. The display panel includes a switching element disposed in association with a pixel, a main gate line connected to the switching element, and a sub gate line spaced apart from the main gate line and connected to the main gate line via a first connecting part. The gate driving part is configured to: provide the main gate line with a main gate signal, and provide the sub gate line with a sub gate signal. The sub gate signal includes a transmission difference from the main gate signal. The data driving part is configured to provide a data line with a data signal.

In a display device, a line inversion driving chip inverts an image data to a data voltage having a positive polarity and a data voltage having a negative polarity based on positive and negative gammas alternately applied at every period, and alternately outputs a first data voltage having a first polarity and a second data voltage having a second polarity at a period less than or equal to a 1H period. A display panel includes a plurality of pixels receiving the first and second data voltages from the line inversion driving chip to display an image. Each pixel row includes first and second pixel groups receiving the first and second data voltages, respectively, and the first and second pixel groups are alternately arranged in each pixel row. Thus, the display device may be driven in a dot inversion method.

Display device and driving method thereof

A driving device for a display device includes a gray voltage generator generating a plurality of gray voltages, a voltage selector selecting an output voltage from the plurality of gray voltages, a voltage level converter converting a level of the output voltage selected by the voltage selector and applying the output voltage with a converted level to data lines, a first switching unit connecting the voltage level converter to the voltage selector and the data lines, and a second switching unit directly connecting the voltage selector and the data lines. Operating times of the first and second switching units are different. Accordingly, when a data voltage is charged in or discharged from a data line, since a separate discharging transistor or a separate discharging amplifier is not used, power consumption and an area of a data driver are reduced.
