A negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery including complex particles including silicon oxide particles doped with a metal of lithium, magnesium, calcium or aluminum, a linear conductive material disposed between the doped silicon oxide particles, and a carbon-based binder that hinds the doped silicon oxide particles and the conductive material together. The carbon-based binder is a result of sintering a carbon-based precursor. A method of preparing the negative electrode active material, a negative electrode and a lithium secondary battery are also provided. The negative electrode active material according to the present disclosure is superior at least in initial efficiency and life characteristics.

Negative electrode active material for lithium secondary battery and method for preparing the same

Provided is a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery which includes: a silicon-silicon oxide-magnesium silicate composite comprising a silicon oxide (SiO, 0<x≤2) matrix; and silicon (Si) crystal grains, MgSiOcrystal grains and MgSiOcrystal grains present in the silicon oxide matrix, wherein the MgSiOcrystal grains have a crystal size of 5-30 nm and the MgSiOcrystal grains have a crystal size of 20-100 nm in the silicon-silicon oxide-magnesium silicate composite, and the content ratio of MgSiOcrystal grains to MgSiOcrystal grains is 2:1-1:1 on the weight basis. A method for preparing the negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery is also provided.

Negative electrode active material for lithium secondary battery and lithium secondary battery comprising the same

A negative electrode active material including a core, an intermediate layer on a surface of the core, and a shell layer on a surface of the intermediate layer, wherein the core includes a silicon oxide of SiO(0&#x3c;x&#x3c;2); the intermediate layer includes a lithium silicate, the shell layer includes lithium fluoride (LiF) and the intermediate layer is present in an amount of 5 wt %-15 wt % based on a total weight of the negative electrode active material. Also, a method for preparing the negative electrode active material, and a negative electrode and lithium secondary battery including the same. The negative electrode active material provides excellent initial efficiency and life characteristics.

A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery (and a lithium secondary battery including the same) including: a negative electrode current collector; a first negative electrode mixture layer present on at least one surface of the negative electrode current collector and including a first carbonaceous negative electrode active material, a first polymer binder and a first conductive material; a second negative electrode mixture layer present on a top surface of the first negative electrode mixture layer and including a silicon-based negative electrode active material, a second polymer binder and a second conductive material; and a third negative electrode mixture layer present on a top surface of the second negative electrode mixture layer and including a second carbonaceous negative electrode active material, a third polymer binder and a third conductive material.
