A vehicle airbag device includes: an inflator configured to generate gas when a first squib and a second squib are fired, respectively; an airbag including a main bag portion configured to inflate and deploy between an occupant seated in a passenger seat and an instrument panel and between the occupant and a windshield when the gas generated by the inflator is supplied into the airbag, and a center bag portion configured to project between the passenger seat and a driver seat from the main bag portion; and a controlling portion configured to control the inflator such that, when a head-on collision occurs, the second squib is fired after the first squib is fired, and when an oblique collision occurs, the second squib is fired after the first squib is fired and at a timing earlier than that when the head-on collision occurs.

Vehicle airbag device, control method for vehicle airbag device, and storage medium

A front passenger seat airbag includes an attachment portion provided on a front end side when inflation has been completed, an occupant protection portion provided on a rear end side to protect the occupant when inflation has been completed, and a cavity portion formed at an intermediate portion between the attachment portion and the occupant protection portion in a manner of penetrating the front passenger seat airbag substantially along a left-right direction. A left edge side and/or a right edge side of the occupant protection portion when inflation has been completed is formed with a protruding region protruding rearward and outward with respect to a central region. At least one of upper and lower edges of an occupant side panel is coupled to an end of the peripheral wall panel. An outer peripheral panel portion of the panel portion is a concave portion in a flatly deployed state.

Front passenger seat airbag

An airbag is configured by six base materials of two side wall configuration panels, a projecting portion configuration panel, a front panel, and two rear panels. Each of the side wall configuration panels configure a left wall portion or a right wall portion facing each other on a side in a rightward-leftward direction in a main body inflation portion, and a projecting portion configuration portion configuring a projecting inflation portion is located in one of the side wall configuration panels. The front panel configures a region from an upper wall portion to a lower wall portion, which face each other on a side in an upward-downward direction in the main body inflation portion. Each of the rear panels configures a rear surface in the main body inflation portion when the main body inflation portion is completely inflated. The projecting portion configuration panel has an external shape substantially coincident with that of the projecting portion configuration portion. The projecting portion configuration panel and the rear panel on the projecting inflation portion side include a recess portion configuration portion configuring a restraining recess portion.

Front passenger seat airbag device

An airbag uses a rear surface side when inflated as an occupant protection section. The occupant protection section includes a frontal collision restriction surface, oblique collision restriction surfaces on left and right sides of the frontal collision restriction surface, and restriction recessed portions between the frontal collision restriction surface and each oblique collision restriction surface. A recessed portion tether links a tip end side of a recess of the restriction recessed portions and a front end side of the airbag to each other to the inside thereof, and when inflated, at the time of dividing the region into two in the left-right direction around the vicinity of the attachment center to the storage part, provides a remote side region on a side away from a driver seat and a driver seat side region. The capacity of the remote side region is smaller than the driver seat side region.

Airbag device for passenger seat

There is provided a passenger seat air bag having a portion which is unfolded to a side toward a center side of a vehicle in which a pressure difference in the portion is suppressed. A passenger seat air bag includes a front unfolding portion which is unfolded in front of the passenger seat, and a side unfolding portion which is in communication with the front unfolding portion and which is unfolded to side, of the passenger seat, nearer to a center of the vehicle. A horizontal tether is provided in the side unfolding portion in an arrangement which is approximately horizontal during unfolding. When unfolding gas is injected from the front to the air bag, because the horizontal tether does not block flow of the unfolding gas, pressure us the side unfolding portion is made uniform.

Passenger seat air bag apparatus

An airbag device includes an airbag. A passenger protection portion of the airbag has a frontal collision restraint surface, an oblique collision restraint surface, and a restraint recess portion. The airbag has a recess portion tether that couples a tip side of a recess of the restraint recess portion and a front end side of the airbag to each other, and at least one longitudinal tether that couples the front end side of the airbag and a recess portion-side region that is located on the restraint recess portion side with respect to a center of the frontal collision restraint surface in a lateral direction to each other, inside the airbag. The frontal collision restraint surface has at least two protruding surfaces that are configured to protrude backward, due to the longitudinal tether. The at least two protruding surfaces are arranged in alignment in the lateral direction.

Airbag device for front passenger seat

An airbag includes a bag body, an exhaust portion which has an exhaust hole, and a connecting member which is connected to the exhaust portion by the root portion inside the bag body. The bag body includes a main inflatable portion that includes a first and a second side walls which are opposed in a left and right direction at airbag deployment, and a protruding inflatable portion that protrudes partially rearward from a first end region in the left and right direction of an upper region of a rear portion of the main inflatable portion as deployed. The exhaust portion is formed in the first side wall of the main inflatable portion on a side the protruding inflatable portion is disposed, and is positioned farther downward than an apex of the protruding inflatable portion, as viewed from a side of the airbag as deployed.

Airbag device

An airbag body includes, in a protection region disposed in the rear portion, a front-collision arresting plane, an oblique-collision arresting plane, and an arresting recess that is recessed forward between the front-collision arresting plane and oblique-collision arresting plane. The airbag body further internally includes a tether that pulls a flat surfaced portion of the passenger protection region and forms the arresting recess out of the flat surfaced portion at airbag deployment. The tether includes a front-rear connecting region that connects a leading end of the arresting recess to the center of a front end portion of the airbag body, and a sideways connecting region that connects the leading end of the arresting recess to a side wall of the airbag body near the oblique-collision arresting plane. The joint of the sideways connecting region to the side wall is disposed farther forward than the leading end of the arresting recess.

Airbag device for a passenger seat

An airbag device for a passenger seat is disclosed. The airbag includes a main section whose rear plane forms a front-collision arresting plane, and a sub section which is disposed on a side of the main section and includes a protruding region protruding farther rearward than the main section. The side plane of the protruding region forms an oblique-collision arresting plane. Between the front-collision- and oblique-collision arresting planes is an arresting recess denting forward. The airbag further internally includes a front-rear tether jointed to the front-collision arresting plane, and a recess-pulling tether jointed to the bottom of the arresting recess. The front-rear tether and recess-pulling tethers share a mounting base by which the tethers are mounted on an airbag case, and bifurcate from the mounting base. The front-rear tether extends from a rear edge of the mounting base, and the recess-pulling tether extends from an edge of the mounting base adjoining the front-rear tether.

Airbag device for a front passenger seat

An airbag includes a main inflatable section which includes a front-collision arresting face at the rear plane as deployed, a protruding inflatable section which includes an oblique-collision arresting face, and an arresting recess formed between the front-collision arresting face and oblique-collision arresting face. An outer tether is disposed on the outside of the airbag for preventing the protruding inflatable section from moving away from the main inflatable section at airbag deployment. The outer tether includes a side edge disposed towards the protruding inflatable section and a front edge disposed towards the main inflatable section. The side edge is jointed to an upper edge of the oblique-collision arresting face by a side joint which is formed over a generally entire area in a front and rear direction of the protruding inflatable section. The front edge is jointed to an upper edge of the front-collision arresting face by a front joint.

An airbag includes on the rear plane a passenger protection portion for protecting a front seat passenger. The passenger protection portion includes a front-collision arresting plane for protecting a head of the passenger as he moves forward in the event of a frontal collision of the vehicle and an oblique-collision arresting plane that is disposed at least either on the left or on the right of the front-collision arresting plane in such a manner as to protrude rearward out of the front-collision arresting plane for protecting the head of the passenger as he moves diagonally forward in the event of an oblique or offset collision of the vehicle. The passenger protection portion further includes an arresting recess that is disposed between the front-collision arresting plane and oblique-collision arresting plane in such a manner as to be sunken forward for receiving and arresting the head of the passenger.

A vehicle front passenger seat airbag device includes a plurality of inflators, an airbag, and a controller. The airbag includes a front passenger seat airbag, and a center airbag that includes a vehicle-rear-side end that projects out further toward a vehicle rear side when inflated and deployed than a rear end of the front passenger seat airbag when inflated and deployed. The controller controls timings for igniting each squib included in the plurality of inflators such that a peak internal pressure of the airbag inflated and deployed when an oblique collision or small overlap collision has occurred is delayed, compared to a peak internal pressure of the airbag inflated and deployed when a head-on collision has occurred.

Vehicle front passenger seat airbag device

An airbag includes, in a rear portion thereof, a passenger protection region for protecting a passenger. The passenger protection region includes a front-collision arresting plane, an oblique-collision arresting plane that is disposed on a left side and/or right side of the front-collision arresting plane, and an arresting recess that is disposed between the front-collision arresting plane and the oblique-collision arresting plane. Further, the airbag internally includes a tether that joints a front end portion of the airbag and the bottom of the arresting recess, and an auxiliary tether that joints the front end portion of the airbag and a side edge region of the front-collision arresting plane apart from the arresting recess. The tether and the auxiliary tether are designed to be deployed generally symmetrically with respect to a line that runs in a front and rear direction through a mounting center of the airbag to a case of the airbag.

An airbag includes a main inflatable section which includes a front-collision arresting face at the rear plane as deployed, a protruding inflatable section which includes an oblique-collision arresting face, and an arresting recess formed between the front-collision arresting face and oblique-collision arresting face. The airbag internally includes a recess-pulling tether which joints the leading end of the arresting recess and a front end portion of the airbag as deployed, and a regulating tether which extends from the leading end of the arresting recess towards a far-side wall of the protruding inflatable section which is opposed to the oblique-collision arresting face. A joint position of the regulating tether to the far-side wall is such a position that would produce a pulling force which pulls the protruding inflatable section towards the rear plane of the main inflatable section when the leading end of the arresting recess moves forward at catching a passenger.

An airbag device for a front passenger seat includes an airbag, two inflators each for feeding the airbag with an inflation gas, a case which holds the airbag and inflators, and a retainer which mounts the airbag and inflators on the case. One of the two inflators is a potentially-influential inflator whose inflation gas may influence the other inflator. The retainer includes a holding plate section which is disposed on an inner surface of the airbag, two insert openings for receiving main bodies of the two inflators, and a shielding wall which rises out of a position of the holding plate section between the two insert openings and extends to a vicinity of a height of the top end plane of the main body of the potentially-influential inflator. The shielding wall shields the other inflator from an inflation gas emitted by the potentially-influential inflator.
