An electric power steering apparatus includes left and right swing arm members, right and left tie rods pivotally connected at inner ends to arm portions of the swing arm members via a relay rod pivotally connected to the arm portions at both ends, a rack-and-pinion device in which one end of a rack bar is connected to the arm portion of one of the swing arm members, and a steering input transmission system that transmits a steering input to the rack-and-pinion device. An electric steering assist force applying device is connected to the arm portion of the other swing arm member, and applies a force to assist the other swing arm member to swing.

Electric power steering apparatus for a vehicle

A drive supporting device includes a supporting device mounted on a vehicle and capable of executing driving support in the vehicle; a steering angle detecting device configured to detect a steering angle of a steering member of the vehicle; a torque detecting device configured to detect a torque acting on a steering shaft portion that rotates with the steering member; and a controller configured to control the supporting device, wherein the controller changes content of the driving support by the supporting device between a case in which a steering power corresponding to a product of a parameter associated with the steering angle detected by the steering angle detecting device and a parameter associated with the torque detected by the torque detecting device is greater than or equal to a reference value set in advance, and a case in which the steering power is smaller than the reference value.

Drive supporting device, operation detecting device, and controller

A power steering device is mounted on a vehicle and includes a variable transmission ratio mechanism, a torque applying unit, and an applied friction torque changing unit. The torque applying unit sets an applied friction torque applied to the steering wheel and performs a control of applying the applied friction torque to the steering wheel. The applied friction torque changing unit changes the applied friction torque based on the transmission ratio of the variable transmission ratio mechanism.

An object of the present invention is to provide an electric power steering device which reduces the variation of viscous feeling due to the change of steering velocity and presents better steering feeling than conventional power steering devices. A basic assist torque Tab and the like are calculated; filter parameters such as time constant Tare calculated; and a gain Gis calculated. A steering velocity s&#xb7;&#x3b8; is calculated and a correction torque Tis calculated as a product of a gain Gand a value obtained by filtering steering velocity s&#xb7;&#x3b8; with a filter of second-order lag and first-order advance. Further, a final target assist torque Ta is calculated by summing a basic assist torque Tab and the like and a correction torque T, and a steering assist torque is controlled so that it conforms to the final target assist torque Ta.

Electric power steering device

A power steering device is mounted on a vehicle and includes a torque applying unit and an applied friction torque changing unit. The torque applying unit sets an applied friction torque applied to a steering wheel based on a real steering angle and a target steering angle, and performs a control of applying the applied friction torque to the steering wheel. The applied friction torque changing unit changes the applied friction torque based on a load condition of the vehicle.

An applied friction torque changing unit changes the applied friction torque, which is calculated from the real steering angle and the target steering angle, when the vehicle reverses. Concretely, the unit changes the applied friction torque to a smaller value when the vehicle reverses than that when the vehicle advances. Thereby, it is possible to decrease the applied friction torque properly when the vehicle reverses, and it become possible to improve the maneuverability of the steering wheel.
