An illumination device including a plurality of light source modules. Each of the plurality of light source modules includes a substrate, a plurality of wiring lines provided on the substrate, and a plurality of LED devices implemented in the wiring lines. The plurality of LED devices include a plurality of red LED devices, a plurality of green LED devices, and a plurality of blue LED devices, wherein the plurality of wiring lines include a wiring line having the plurality of red LED devices implemented in series, a wiring line having the plurality of green LED devices implemented in series, and a wiring line having the plurality of blue LED devices implemented in series. The plurality of wiring lines are connected in parallel and are driven by a single power voltage.

Liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display device includes: a light guide plate having an emission surface emitting light to a liquid crystal panel and a plurality of side surfaces; and a plurality of light sources LEDPKG inputting light to the light guide plate from at least one side surface. The light guide plate is divided into a plurality of parts extending from the light inputted one side surface to an opposite side surface and the plurality of parts include at least one first part and at least one second part. The first part and the second part are adjacent to each other, and two-dimensionally overlap with the display area, respectively. At least the second part has a shape for emitting the light from an emission surface, and a sectional shape in the extending direction of the first part is greater than that of the second part.

In a liquid crystal display device, the reduction of power consumption is realized by reddening a backlight while maintaining a white balance. An aperture ratio of a red subpixel and an aperture ratio of a blue subpixel are set such that, in a state where an aperture ratio of a green subpixel in each pixel of a liquid crystal panel is fixed to a desired value, white brightness efficiency takes a maximum value which is set based on a balance between light emission efficiency which is increased corresponding to lowering of a color temperature of the backlight and transmissivity of the pixel which is decreased corresponding to the increase of the aperture ratio of the blue subpixel.

A liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal layer which contains a liquid crystal composition; a pair of substrates opposed to each other across the liquid crystal layer; alignment layers placed on liquid crystal layer sides of the pair of substrates, respectively; and polarization plates placed on opposite sides from the liquid crystal layer sides, respectively. The pair of substrates includes a thin-film transistor substrate including a thin-film transistor for controlling molecule alignment of the liquid crystal composition, and a color filter substrate including a color layer containing pixels of different colors. A blue pixel, which is one of the pixels of different colors, is larger in area than any of the pixels of other colors. A loss of light in a short-wavelength range is thus reduced.

An illumination device includes a light source module, the module comprising: a substrate; a plurality of wiring lines provided on the substrate; and a plurality of LED devices implemented in the wiring lines: wherein the plurality of LED devices include a plurality of red LED devices, a plurality of green LED devices, and a plurality of blue LED devices: wherein the plurality of wiring lines include a wiring line having the plurality of red LED devices implemented in series, a wiring line having the plurality of green LED devices implemented in series, and a wiring line having the plurality of blue LED devices implemented in series; and wherein the plurality of wiring lines are connected in parallel and driven by a single power voltage.

Provided is a liquid crystal display device, in which a pretilt angle of liquid crystal molecules in a liquid crystal layer () is smaller than 2&#xb0; and a first optically anisotropic layer () is formed between a first polarizing plate () and the first substrate (). Liquid crystal panel and liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel and an illuminating device having a plurality of LED packages which include LED's and a lens. Each LED package includes a high refractive index member containing a substance having a larger refractive index than that of a material forming the lens and which seals the LED. The lens is shaped to have a recess near its center, and is shaped so that a moving radius increases as a polar angle increases within a range of 0 to 80 degrees. The moving radius is defined as a distance starting from the lens center and ending in the lens surface, and the polar angle is defined as an angle that is made by the moving radius to the center axis that is vertical to a plane on which said LED package is located and passing through the center of the lens.

Illuminating device and liquid-crystal display device using the same

The side surface of the light guide plate includes an incident surface which faces the light source unit in an opposed manner, and a fixing surface which is directed in the left-and-right direction orthogonal to the top-and-bottom direction which is the direction along which the light source unit and the incident surface each other in an opposed manner. An engaging portion which is engageable with a lower frame is formed on the fixing surface or an edge portion which forms the fixing surface. The engaging portion is configured to allow a change of a distance between the incident surface and the lower frame due to expansion or shrinkage of the light guide plate while restricting the movement of the light guide plate in the top-and-bottom direction.

Liquid crystal display device and illuminating device

A liquid crystal display device includes first and second substrates with first and second polarizing layers, a liquid-crystal layer, a matrix-driven electrode group; and a rear-illuminating device. The liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal panel and the back light device for emitting the light from a light source to the liquid crystal panel through a lens. The light source includes a first LED for emitting the light of a first color, a second LED for emitting the light of a second color, a third LED for emitting the light of a third color, a fourth LED for emitting the light of the third color, a fifth LED for emitting the light of the second color, and a sixth LED for emitting the light of the first color.
