In a seesaw balance type microminiature electoromagnetic relay including an armature unit composed of two movable contact springs having a pivot arm formed at the center thereof and contacts formed at every end thereof, an armature having a protrusion on the back side for a pivotal movement, and an insert-molded insulator, a substrate unit composed of a common terminal for mounting the pivot arm electrically connected to a common terminal pin, a pair of switching terminals having fixed contacts for connecting the contacts of the springs electrically connected to terminal pins, and an electromagnet unit composed of a yoke, an exciter coil wound thereon, a flat shape permanent magnet provided between both ends of the yoke and two terminal pins electrically connected to the start and the end of the exciter coil, respectively; a hoop member is formed in an integrated configuration of a plurality of groups by a press blanking procedure, each group including a pair of movable contact springs, two non-magnetizing plates and two connecting bars connecting both ends of the springs and one end of the non-magnetizing plate; the armature is piled on the free edge of the non-magnetizing plate and at least one end thereof is welded; an insulator is formed by an insert-mold procedure to cover the movable contact springs and the armature, and the armature unit is formed by cutting boundary portions between the connecting bars and the movable contact springs and non-magnetizing plate. The pivot arm extended from the center part of the movable contact spring is U-shaped and a positioning member is provided at the free edge thereof or at the common terminal for mounting the pivot arm.

An IDC type multi-conductor cable connector and method for assembling a cable thereto. The cable connector has a plurality of contact terminals mounted in respective holes in a housing having a plurality of holes. The contact terminals each have a contact part provided at one end and an IDC type connection part provided at the other end thereof. The connector has means for temporarily holding the contact terminals in a position where the connection part of each terminal is exposed. The connector can be transported or delivered from the vendor in this state. A cable is assembled by IDC many to each exposed connection part. After the connection of the cables has been completed, the contact terminals are inserted further into their respective holes so that the connecting parts become entirely covered. Such configuration eliminates the need for a cover, a component which is necessary for ordinary IDC type connector, and enables reduction in the size of the connector and in labor costs. Such housing may be used in modular form. By combining such modular housings, it is possible to construct various type of connectors merely by changing the case used to combine the modules. Such combined connectors are easy to wire at the interior portions of the cable connector. So, high packing density multi-contact connectors are provided.

In an electrical connector, a contact comprises a first contact portion, a second contact portion having its axis parallel with the axis of the first contact portion and a connecting portion connecting the first and second contact portions. The angles of the connecting portion relative the axes of the first and second contact portions are capable of being changed. A plurality of these contacts are inserted into holes or channels of an insulator member of the connector.

A connector comprising a molded connector housing, including insertion holes which can be formed by using a molding core and which receive female connector elements which are to be inserted therein, and including molded flexible abutment members which are provided with separate free ends which provide large contact areas between the flexible abutment members and the corresponding female contact, so as to prevent the female contact elements from coming out of the corresponding insertion holes. The flexible abutment members are provided with recessed grooves having inclined surfaces which enable the molding core to be withdrawn from the connector housing after forming the insertion holes.
