One or more embodiments of the present invention are directed to a liquid crystal display including: a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other; a first color pixel area, a second color pixel area, a third color pixel area, and a white pixel area on any one of the first substrate and the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate. A first color filter is disposed in each of the first color pixel area and the white pixel area, and each of the first, second, third, and white pixel areas includes a plurality of domains, each two adjacent domains having a boundary between them, and the first color filter is disposed at at least one of the boundaries between the domains in the white pixel area.

Liquid crystal display

A display apparatus includes gate lines extending in a first direction, data lines crossing the first direction and having polarities of data voltages consecutively repeated every four data lines, and pixels which each comprise three sub-pixels. One of the three sub-pixels has a width in the first direction different from a width in the first direction of another sub-pixel of the three sub-pixels. Each of the three sub-pixels is connected to a corresponding gate line and a corresponding data line. The polarities of the data voltages applied to a first data line and a third data line are opposite and the polarities of the data voltages applied to a second data line and a fourth data line are opposite. The pixels arranged between two adjacent data lines among the plurality of data lines are alternately connected to the two adjacent data lines.

Display apparatus

A display apparatus includes gate lines extending in a first direction data lines extending in a second direction crossing the first direction, and pixels connected to the gate lines and the data lines. The pixels displaying first, second, third, and fourth colors are repeatedly arranged in the second direction. A k-th gate line connected to at least one of first pixels displaying the first color among the pixels arranged in an i-th row is electrically connected to a (k+j)th gate line connected to at least one of second pixels displaying the first color among pixels arranged in one row of (i+1)th, (i+2)th, and (i+3)th rows.

A liquid crystal display and a method for driving the same. The liquid crystal display includes: gate lines arranged in a row direction; data lines arranged in a column direction; and subpixels arranged in basic units of eight subpixels. Each subpixel is each connected to one of the gate lines and one of the data lines, and the subpixels are continuously arranged along a row and are arranged in a matrix. In the basic units, polarities between adjacent subpixels from a first subpixel to a fourth subpixel along the row are opposite to each other, polarities between adjacent subpixels from a fifth subpixel to an eighth subpixel along the row are opposite to each other, and polarities of the fourth subpixel and the fifth subpixel are the same.

Liquid crystal display and method for driving the same

According to an embodiment, a display apparatus includes gate lines extending in a first direction, data lines extending in a second direction crossing the first direction, and pixels connected to the gate lines and the data lines. The pixels include pixels arranged in a k-th row and pixels arranged in a (k+1)th row disposed adjacent to the pixels arranged in the k-th row in the second direction. An (i+1)th gate line is disposed between the pixels in the k-th row and the pixels in the (k+1)th row. A first pixel arranged in a g-th column among the pixels arranged in the k-th row and a second pixel arranged in the g-th column among the pixels arranged in the (k+1)th row are connected to a j-th data line. The pixels arranged in the k-th row are alternately connected to an i-th gate line and the (i+1)th gate line.

Display apparatus and method of driving with pixels alternatively connected to adjacent gate lines

A data processing device, which processes and provides data to a plurality of logical pixels of a display device, includes: a data analysis part which analyzes information of text, color, line or edge in each of the data; and a data compensation part which compensates text data corresponding to a logical pixel which does not express text color among the data having the information of text based on the information analyzed in the data analysis part, where each of the logical pixels of the display device comprises at least one of red, green, blue and optional color sub-pixels.

Data processing device and display system including the same

A display device includes a display panel including gate lines which extends in a first direction, data lines which extends in a second direction, and sub-pixels connected to corresponding gate and data lines, a gate driver configured to drive the gate lines, a data driver configured to apply a gray-scale voltage to the data lines, and a timing controller configured to generate and apply control signals to the gate and data drivers, where a unit pixel of the display panel is defined by an even number of adjacent sub-pixels among the sub-pixels, each of the data lines is connected to corresponding sub-pixels of the sub-pixels, the data driver inverts a polarity of the gray-scale voltage every two data lines, and two adjacent sub-pixels in the unit pixel are applied with the gray-scale voltages having different polarities.

Display device having unit pixel defined by even number of adjacent sub-pixels

The present invention provides a display device including a first block including a first primary color pixel and a second primary color pixel having substantially a same area, a second block alternatingly disposed with the first block along the first direction, the second block including a third primary color pixel, a fourth primary color pixel and a white pixel. The first block and the second block have substantially a same area and the third primary color pixel has an area wider than the fourth primary color pixel and the white color pixel.

Provided is an image processing method of processing first red, green, and blue (RGB) data with a display device including a pixel configured with red, green, blue, and white sub-pixels and providing the processed data. The method includes receiving the first RGB data, rendering the first RGB data to generate second RGB data and white (W) data, converting the first RGB data into hue, saturation, and value (HSV) data, obtaining RGB compensation data by using the HSV data on the basis of a lookup table, compensating for the second RGB data by using the RGB compensation data, and outputting the compensated second RGB data and the W data.
