An image driving method includes receiving basic image data including a first set of primary colors. The basic image data is transformed into output image data including a second set of primary colors. Luminance values of the second set of primary colors of the output image data is reduced to compensate the luminance values of the second set of primary colors of the output image data when a luminance value of the first set of primary color of the basic image data is saturated. Image distortion is thereby minimized or prevented.

A backlight assembly includes a light providing unit, an optical sheet, and a mold frame. The light providing unit generates light. The optical sheet has a main body disposed on the light providing unit and a sheet-guiding portion protruding outward from the main body. The mold frame has a frame shape to receive the light providing unit and the optical sheet and includes a sheet-guiding recess and a securing protrusion adjacent to at least one side of the sheet-guiding recess and protruding with respect to an upper surface of the optical sheet to prevent misalignment of the optical sheet. The sheet-guiding recess receives the sheet-guiding portion.

Backlight assembly and display apparatus having the same

A method for illuminating a liquid crystal display device, a back-light assembly for performing the same and a liquid crystal display device using the same can improve the front luminance and production yield. Lights from a lamp is incident to a LCD panel side, which are then primarily diffused for a uniformity of the luminous flux of the incident lights. The luminous flux of the primarily diffused lights is condensed with respect to a first orientation component on a plane in parallel with the LCD panel, and then partially and secondarily diffused for extending a view angle of pixels of the LCD panel. After the luminous flux of the secondarily diffused lights is condensed with respect to a second orientation component perpendicular to the first orientation on the parallel plane, the condensed lights are illuminated onto the LCD panel. A diffusion sheet for secondarily diffusing the luminous flux and a condensing sheet for condensing the second orientation component are formed by a single sheet to reduce the manufacturing process of the liquid crystal display device. Also, a defect produced from respective sheets is minimized to enhance the yield.

The backlight assembly includes a first light guide and a second light guide that each has a light incident face, a light exiting face, and a light interfacing face. The light interfacing face of the first light guide has a first interfacing portion and a second interfacing portion while the light interfacing face of the second light guide has a third interfacing portion and a fourth interfacing portion. A light reflective member has a first reflection face arranged at the second light reflection face portion and a second reflection face arranged at the fourth light reflective face portion, and the light source supplies light to the first and second light incident faces. The light incident faces are on the same side of the light guiding members.
